Chapter 14

P.O.V Tobias

I saw the sunrise when Tris woke me up and she said:'' While you were asleep I've heard 2 cannons. I don't know who died..'' I was straight thinking of Jeanine and then Zeke. What if one of them, or even both! Died?? The fact that we were with just 6 tributes left made the chance quite big. When we started our breakfast Tris said that our bottles were completely empty. How? Wait, we used much water when we tried to clean Al his wounds. That meant that we had to go to the lake again. The temperature went up very fast. We were exhausted when we arrived at the lake. We couldn't wait 3 hours more before the water was clean, but it would be the savest. We washed ourselves a bit and went back to the cave. When we arrived there we heard another cannon. Would it maybe be Jeanine or Zeke? I don't know why I would think of Zeke in the days I got to know him a bit I didn't really like him. If everyone got killed off this fast the games wouldn't take that long anymore. We stayed for the rest of the day in the cave. It was a bit boring, but there was a lot of shadows. We had dinner. We still had 4 stroopwafels left, but more liquorice. We had to hunt if the games took longer than we would think... At 8:00 PM we heard the anthem. In the light, we saw the pictures lighten up of the boy from 3, the boy from 9 and Jeanine... Which cannon would she be? The one I did not hear? Who (or what) would have killed her. I saw at Tris that she was also very shocked when she saw Jeanine in the air. Tris did then something unexpected. The 3 finger salute... I never saw someone from another district do it for someone from not their own district. I followed her. In these days I got to know Jeanine so much better. She wasn't that creepy girl with a crush on me, she was just my friend Jeanine. Later on, I thought that we forgot this for Al, but the good point we already had speeches for him...  At this moment we were still with 5 tributes, the girl from 1, the girl from 5, me, Zeke and Tris. 

(Author's note: Please don't hate this reading part. I still have got to practice with love scenes...)

The evening fell weird. It was weird. None of us was really that tired. We both stayed awake. It was a really pretty night. This was one of the first nights that we could see the stars and even a moon! I thought: this is the evening and perfect setting to tell Tris that I love her. From a crush, it went to love her. When we were watching the stars with the blanket we had I decided to tell it: '' Uhm Tris, I gotta tell you something. I never really said this to someone, but Uhm...'' ''Just tell it, Tobias. We don't have forever. You can tell me anything. Just say it'' she said and I continued ''Okay, here we go. I... Love you...'' she seemed really speechless. It was like some big awkward silence. I tried to make it less awkward by saying: ''So.. Uhm what do you think... You like me too?' I really did hate these awkward silences so I didn't really think and just went for it. I kissed her. I kissed the first girl I've ever liked. The kiss was pretty short because she stopped it and I said: ''What? Is there anything? You don't love me, do you? I feel so stupid right now... I'm so so sorr-'' I got interrupted by her because it was now her who started a kiss. and she said:'' Of course, I love you. I only don't think I realize it myself, but yeah... I love you...'' and we kissed... again. Every time her lips went to mine it fell like angels came to my mouth. It was just really really awesome. Then she said: ''Wait, I wasn't your first kiss, right? It doesn't matter but. yeah'' ''Well uh. To be honest, You're even the first girl I ever loved. So yes, you're my first kiss.'' She looked really surprised by hearing my answer. 

Then our moment got interrupted. We heard someone outside. Who would it be? I put my hand on my axe and I kept my other with Tris who was grabbing a knife and the person screamed: '' BACK OF 7!! SHE'S MINE!!'' Tris grabbed a flashlight and shined on the person it was... Zeke? Then things went pretty fast she and Zeke had some weird conversation. At last Zeke even tried to kiss her! Before I could do anything to him Tris was earlier and she punched him in the face. She was like really really mad at her. We tied is hands together and brought him outside. He was able to cut the benches trough and said:  ''Bye bae. I know you'll return to me, cause you love and need me!!'' Tris putted her middle finger in the air. I didn't know she had this fury. I almost wanted to start laughing. Zeke's last words were: Bye baby!!'' and he went into the forest again. In the cave Tris had to calm down because if I would let her go now, she would go after him to kill him. I don't think that was a good idea. I calmed her. I think it worked. I think I found the love of my life, but we were stuck in this stupid arena and we came from other districts. 

Tris and I kept talking for some time. Yes with some kissing through it. It fell like I found this new part of Tris. It was kind of easier to talk to her know. I didn't had to hide anymore that I just really love her and we both got to come out this arena freaking alive... She fell asleep in my arms. I gave her the blanket, grabbed the hoodie out of one of the backpacks, we had 5 of them now. I think it was around 4:00 AM when Tris woke and she said that I could sleep. I was really tired and fell asleep in a couple of minutes
