XII.

chapter twelve: quality time

The next day school flies by. I don't even realize it until it's over and I'm standing outside of the huge building side by side with Carly. That's the first time I actually get that I've been spending the whole day thinking about yesterday. In the lessons I'd paid enough attention to answer the questions I'd been asked but now I can't remember any of the things we'd been doing. The only thing I can guess is that we watched a movie in english because I remember seeing Leonardo DiCaprio and he obviously isn't a student nor teacher at our school. Charles is standing next to Carly and I suppose they're good again because they already kissed multiple times apparently making up for the missing ones yesterday. 

Every time their lips meet my thoughts go back to the moment on Carlys doorstep and how much I wished my lips, instead of his, to meet hers. But I'm sure it will not happen very soon. 

Hotaru and Marcus are standing next to me too. Again they're teasing each other and I'm somehow sure that Marc has to have bruises from Hotarus friendly punches by now because she nearly hits him every second. 

I'm surrounded by happy couples. 

Then someone gets me out of my thoughts by calling my name.

"Auden!" Megs voices hovers over the whole parking lot as she runs across it towards us. The sight of her brings a smile to my face and I prepare myself to be run over by her but even though I stand as steadily as I can I nearly fall over when my little sister rushes into my arms.

"Wow!" I cry out and make as step back catching myself, "You act like we didn't see each other in years." Meg laughs and looks up at me without letting me go.

"It felt like years," she says, "school was soooooo long today." She then hadn't had to think about something.

"If you say so," I press my lips on her forehead. She giggles and finally lets go of me. I have to rub my waist because she is actually really strong by now which probably comes from the box training she takes. It's one of her new hobbies but I have to say that this one actually fits her characteristics. Unlike sowing or painting.

"Hi Meg," Carly welcomes her and Meg hugs her too. Charles is still standing next to her and in his face I can see his confusion because he doesn't know Meg. Why should he? Marcus on the other hand gets a Meg-hug as well because he had come over two days ago with Hotaru when she brought something for me that I needed. They stayed for a few minutes and while Hotaru and I talked Marcus played cards with Meg and they seemed to have gotten real close. 

"Hi I'm Meg," she introduces herself to Charles after hugging Hotaru to her death, "I'm Audens little sister." Charles takes her hand that she's holding out to him and shakes it. I can't tell of he likes her or if he doesn't. In his faces there's still only confusion and a smile building. I guess that he likes my little angel as much as everyone else does. 

"Are you coming with us to cheerleading practice today, Meggie?" Carly wants to know and bends down to Meg even though she's only a bit shorter then me and Hotaru. She shakes her head and Carlys eyes immediately find mine.

"We're going shopping because she needs sport clothes for boxing," I explain and try to look sorry but I know that Carly will understand that I could never say no to my sister. 

"Oh that's sad," she admits anyways and runs her fingers through her hair, "Maybe we see each other another practice."

"I'll come to the competition," Meg cheers and jumps up and down once. 

"Hey, that's great." Carlys eyes light up again and the sadness because we can't watch the practice is gone again. "I'm sure we'll win if you're there." Her statement makes Meg giggle and hug her once again.
