Chapter 3

The next day, Lanie called Beckett and Castle and told them she had something interesting to tell them. "What have you found?" Beckett asked. "The victim was pregnant." She said. "Really?" Castle asked intrigued. "Yeah, she was only about four weeks along." In this moment, Kate went pale. She had just remembered she hadn't gotten her period yet this month. Then she realized her and Castle had unprotected sex about two weeks ago, right about the time she should have been ovulating. "Oh crap," Kate thought. "Are you okay?" Lanie asked noticing Kate's reaction. "Yeah, I'm fine." She replied as the blood rushed back into her face. "Is that it?" "No," said Lanie, "She died between 8 and 10 PM and has a phone number written on her hand. It is 212-4571." "Alright, thank you Lanie." Kate responded.

Back at the presinct, Beckett had the boys track down that phone number. "It is a pay phone downtown," said Ryan. Suddenly feeling wet, Kate said, "See if Tory can get eyes on that pay phone and if so, analyze the footage from the past couple of days and see who used it. I will be right back." Kate walked quickly into the bathroom, locked the stall door, and pulled down her pants. Bright red blood stared back at her. "Well at least I am not pregnant," she thought to herself. Then she noticed she had bled through her pants. Stuffing a wad of toilet paper in her underwear, she dashed back to her desk, grabbed her purse, and ran back to the bathroom. As she inserted her tampon, Kate wondered what to do about her blood soaked pants.

"I wonder where Kate is," Castle wondered aloud. "I think she went to the bathroom," said Ryan. "Oh," said Castle clearly worried. "I will go look for her," said Tory sensing Castle's worry. "Thank you," replied Castle. "Kate? Are you in here?" asked Tory, "Castle is worried about you." "Yeah, I am here" she replied. "What is wrong?" Replied Tory hearing the distress in Kate's voice. Then Kate explained the problem to her. "I have had that happen before, and it sucks. Go home and change, I will tell them you realized you left your phone at home and went to get it." Tory said. "Thank you so much," said Kate still in the stall. At home Beckett changed into identical pants to the ones she was previously wearing, and then went back to the precinct.

When she got back Castle said, "We got footage of the pay phone, and only two people used it, and neither them were our victim." "From there we compared the time code our vic was called, to the two callers and found this guy called her," said Esposito. "His name is Frank Casillas. He is a delivery boy," said Ryan. "He is waiting in the box."
