Eighteen

"Ayat! Ayat!... Ayat, uthiye..." Ayat felt someone shaking her shoulder to wake her up

(Wake up!)

Ayat was too tired to proceed who it is, or what they want, throwing comforter on herself, she turned to other side, wanting to say let her sleep more but her words came out gibberish.

"Kya? Ayat, I don't know what you are saying, wake up!"

(What?)

"Ky.... Kya hua?" When her comforter was snatched away from her, Ayat hastenedly wake up and looked around confusingly, but when found Ayla there, she whiningly asked

(Wh... What happened?)

"Kya hua Kya? Uthiye." Ayla said, as if she is in hurry

(Get up.)

"Kyu, aapi? Kal raat ko waise bhi hum bohot late soye the." Ayat whined and pulled her comforter on herself to find comfort

(Why? I slept very late last night.)

"Humne nahi kaha late sone ko? Aur aap late kyu soi thi?" Ayla's words bring back the memories which made Ayat stay awake all night

(And why is that?)

"Ayat!" When Ayla saw Ayat lost in trance, she snapped her finger in front of her

"Jald uthiye." Tapping on Ayat's arm, Ayla got up

(Get up.)

"Aapi, abhi to sirf... Suba ke 5 hi baje Hain, aapi." Ayat beggingly said while looking at the clock on side table, as she again layed down, covering herself in her comforter

(It is.. it's just 5 O'clock in morning.)

"Arey! Hanan aur Nana jaan ki flight haina, unko see off nahi Karna." Ayla remind her

(Hanan and Nana jaan are leaving for America, won't you see them off.)

"Hum kyu unhe see off kare?" Ayat removed the comforter away from her eyes and asked

(Why would I see them off?)

"Ayat! Shohar hai woh tumhara. Bechara hum sabse itni durr ja raha hai, see off kardo ussey." Ayla's eyes widened on her words, sitting on Ayat's bed again, Ayla said, as her eyes had pity and worry for Hanan

(Hanan is your husband, poor guy is going away from us, the least you could do is see him off.)

"Yaar, aapi. Hum nahi janyege. Pura khandan hoga niche unn bechare ko see off karne ke liye."

(Everyone must be downstairs to see that poor guy off, I am not really needed there.)

"Ayat, aap uth rahi Hain ki nahi? Nana jaan Kya sochenge. Kal hi apka nikkah hua aur aap apne shohar ko see off karne bhi nahi aai."

(So you won't get up? Just imagine what Nana jaan will think if you don't say goodbye to him.)

"Hume nahi lagta nana Jaan ke paas itni fursat Hai ki yeh sab soche."

(I don't think Nana jaan have this much time to think about stupid things.)

"Ayat! 5 minutes ke andar fresh ho aur niche aao." Ayla got up from bed and told Ayat

(Ayat, you have five minutes to get downstairs.)

"Hum nahi ayenge niche. Aur unhe see off toh bilkul bhi nahi karenge." Behind her, Ayat said as she made herself comfortable while hugging her pillow
