Daastan Khatam Hone Wali Hai
Tum Meri Aakhri Mohabbat Ho

***

Hanan sat in a chair beside the hospital bed, a wide smile on his face. The soft hum of medical equipment filled the room. In his arms, Shahnan lay bundled up in a cozy baby blanket. Hanan gently kissed Shahnan's tiny hands, eliciting delighted coos from the newborn.

"Who's my little Baloo? Yes, you are! You're Daddy's Baloo!" Hanan used a baby voice, making Shahnan respond with happy grunts.

Playfully, Hanan nuzzled his nose against Shahnan's tiny one, prompting the baby to erupt into even more coos. Shahnan's eyes sparkled with pure innocence.

As Hanan continued to bond with Shahnan, the hospital room door creaked open, and Ayat stepped in with Ayla. She watched the heartwarming scene before her, feeling overwhelmed with love and gratitude. A soft smile graced her lips as she thanked her Almighty for this beautiful family.

Hanan looked up to them, giving them a huge smile. Putting Shahnan in the cot, Hanan walked to Ayat and wrapped his arm around her.

"Ho gaye test?" He asked, as they walked over the bed.

(You are done with the test?)

"Haan ho gaye, ab aap aram kariye." Ayla answered on Ayat's behalf, then she suggested Ayat. Ayla went to the cot and kissed Shahnan's face. "Ab hum chalein, round pe jana hai." And she left.

(Yes, now you rest.)

(I should go now,)

Hanan once more cradled Shahnan in his arms. Ever since Shahnan was born, Hanan couldn't bear to put him down; he always longed to hold his son. Their eyes locked, and Ayat detected a mischievous glint in Hanan's grey eyes.

"Ayat, yeh kitna pyara hai. Mera dil chah raha hai 2-3 aur kar lete hain," Hanan said, hugging Shahnan close to him and kissing his head.

(Ayat, he is so adorable. My heart is tempting me to have 2-3 more.)

Ayat's smile faded as she stared at Hanan. "2-3?" she asked in a throaty voice.

"2 nahi 3, 4 babies perfect," Hanan replied, and sat beside her.

(3 not 2, 4 babies would be perfect.)

"Kya kehti ho?" Excitedly, he asked.

(What do you say?)

"Nahi!" Ayat slowly shook her head, bursting his bubble.

(No!)

"Kyu?" Hanan's face fell.

(Why?)

"Yaar, dekho mujhe iklauta beta toh nahi chahiye. Sari zindagi ikloute ke chakkar mein bohot phasa hoon. Mujhe toh dherr sarey babies chahiye."

(Hey, I don't want just one son, you know. I've been stuck with being only one son all my life. I want lots of babies.)

"Aur dekho na yeh kitna pyara hai. Aise aur honge toh kitna achha lagega na." He turned to Shahnan, lifting his tiny hand and turned to Ayat with convincing eyes.

(And look how adorable he is. It would be nice to have more of these.)

Ayat couldn't help but chuckle at Hanan's enthusiasm. She placed her hand on Shahnan's chest. "Baby hai, Hanan, pancake nahi ki ek achha laga 2-3 aur bana lein. Abhi ke liye ek hi sahi hai."

(He is a baby, Hanan, not pancakes that you can make a few more. For now, one is just fine.)

Hanan's face fell as he looked at Shahnan, then back at Ayat. "Lekin mujhe ek baby nahi chahiye," he insisted.
