OS #22: LOVE BEYOND DEATH

"I'll find you if we survive this. I'll find you no matter where you are, and I'll be with you for the rest of our lives. And if we don't, God help us. I love you."-

I looked at his message.

It's exactly a year ago. Two years ago and I'm still waiting for him, waiting and hoping that he'll find me. But I know, that's impossible. He'll never see me again.

Never again.

Because I didn't make it.

Bago pa kami makalikas, the volcano errupted.

It was like a bomb, I was all in pain but I managed to say his name- for the last time. And smelt sweet scent and warmness. This must be the feeling of dying.

That should be the first time that we'll meet.

The first time that we'll see each other.

The first time that we'll be together.

After 5years of long distance relationship and we had the chance to meet each other.

That's what I thought.

And fate's just as cruel as what happened to me.

"Kiel..."- I murmurred his name in the air, as I be with the wind with no destination.

"Coleen..."-

I froze.

I know that voice.

I heard that voice numerous times. I miss that voice more than anything. I miss-

him.

And here he is, standing infront of me.

He's here, he found me.

He found me, but I'm dead.

I looked at him and just like meeting a stranger, I can't seem to look at him. I still can feel my heart, as if it still beats for him.

As if it's still alive.

"I'm sorry I was late. I thought I can do it, sorry I failed to protect you, Coleen. I'm sorry. I love you."-

My eyes filled with tears. Tears are falling from his eyes.

"H-how did y-you d-died?"-

He didn't answer me yet, but looked down.

Ngayon ko lang napansin kung nasaan kami.

Sementeryo.

I looked down at what he's looking and found out his name engraved to the ground.

And my name under it.

Naguguluhan pa din ako.

Binasa ko ang nakaukit na mga salita sa lapida.

'Somewhere else we'll meet, not on earth but in heaven'

"I was there when the volcano errupted, I was there going to your home- I want to surprise you... but then the volcano errupted. And I saw you lying on the cold earth, and I want to keep you warm. All I did was hugged you and everything turned into darkness."-

Tears are running down as rain starts pouring down the cemetery.

"At last, we met."-

I smiled.

"It's not too late to have our first date."-

I looked at him as he offered his hands to me.

I looked up and saw the sun peeking through the clouds. I accepted his hand and clasp it together, leaving the cemetery.
