"Your brother's avoiding me." I found myself telling Carlton as I watched Xander make a U turn after seeing me for the fifth time tonight. Carlton chuckled and looked down at his glass.
"It's nothing personal trust me. He's avoiding everyone. The party has him agitated." He said.
"Well he's not avoiding her." I found myself mumbling as I watched a brunette walk up to him. He smiled down at her and for some unknown reason it irritated me.
"Are you jealous?" Carlton asked smirking.
"No. Why would I be I barely know him." I huffed. "I just don't like to be ignored."
Carlton hummed as if to say he didn't believe me. The brunette placed her hand on Xander's arm and laughed and I was glaring at it which confused me even further. As I watched the two of them a part of me hoped her hand got fire but I shoved it down shaking my head. When I looked back up she was clutching her hand in pain and Xander looked confused.
"Did you do that?" Carlton asked.
"Do what?" I questioned just as his brother looked in our direction and his eyes met mine. He smiled slowly and shook his head before saying something to the girl in front of him.
"Let's go say hi." Carlton said dragging me towards the pair.
"What? No Carlton stop." He didn't listen of course he didn't listen.
"It's not healing. This isn't funny Alexander." I heard her hiss when we reached them. Xander had an excited smile on his face his eyes dancing. The gold and blue swirling around before they changed back to just blue.
"What's wrong?" A new voice asked making me look away from Xander and towards an Asian guy in a grey suit.
"Anabelle got burnt." Xander smiled like he was happy about it. Maybe he's a sadist.
"How did you get burned?" The new arrival asked chuckling.
"I don't know." She said glaring at me her eyes flashing red. What the hell was she glaring at me for? I glared right back and she hissed in pain again looking down.
"Kenji. Why don't you and Anabelle find a first aid kit and meet us in my room afterwards." Xander said grabbing my hand and leading me away from the group.
"Is the hand holding necessary?" I asked as he dragged me through the crowd and out the room.
"It is." He shrugged not letting go.
"What happened to ignoring me?" I asked.
"I wasn't ignoring you."
"That's right you were running away." I huffed. He paused at the top of the stairs and I bumped into him before taking a step back. He turned around and looked down at me.
"Did it upset you?" He asked quietly.
"So I was right, you were avoiding me."
"You haven't answered my question Mel." He smirked.
"Why should I be upset? I only met you yesterday." I said trying to ignore the fact that my heart was beating way too fast.
"We've met before Mel. You just don't remember. Once you admit that you were upset I'll admit that I was avoiding you. Then we can talk about why it made you mad and why seeing your reaction made me happy."
"Maybe you just like pissing people off." I said glaring at his smug smile.
"Maybe." He chuckled.
"I thought we were supposed to meet in your room and not by the stairs." Carlton said walking past us with Kenji and Anabelle behind him.
Xander rolled his eyes and let go of my hand. How did I not notice that he was still holding it? Snapping out of it I followed the group until we got to where my room was. I was about to question them when they entered the room right opposite mine. Walking in I took in the place.
