The shift back had drained Xander significantly. I left Adonis to deal with disposing Carlton's body and carried Xander into the house. Putting him down onto the bed I threw a blanket over him and sat down on the chair opposite his bed.
We needed to find Mel before she started killing everyone. Or maybe we could wait for her to start. Then it'd be easier to locate her. But that was a horrible idea. Waiting for people to die just so we could know where she was going to hit. We had to in a sense think like Alistair. The only person I could think of who would have a faint idea other than his sons, one of which was dead the other fast asleep, was Logan.
But I didn't really know Logan and he didn't know me. Then it clicked who I could ask. I got up and made my way down stairs where I found Richard pouring himself a drink. He was staring at one of the pictures of Mel. I paused at the entryway watching him.
"Sometimes I wonder if things would have been different if I didn't try and keep her for myself. If maybe I had let her go with Xander when he wanted to take her to you. Maybe if she was with you none of this would have happened." He said without facing me.
"You shouldn't blame yourself for anything that happened. You couldn't have known and even if you had none of this is your fault." I said walking into the room and settling down across from him.
"I know I just... I want my baby girl back." He sighed putting the photo down.
"We're going to find her. We actually need your help with that." I told him.
"What do you need me to do?"
"Talk to Logan and see if he can have a faint idea of how Alistair's mind works or where he could be hiding. They are brothers after all."
"From the little I know. I've put together that Logan never really got along with his brother and they haven't really had a conversation with each other that wasn't hostile in over twenty five years." He frowned.
"But there could be something he could give us. Even just something he knew he hated anything."
"I'll talk to him in the morning. Why don't you get some rest son? You used up quite a bit of juice earlier."
"I don't need sleep I need to figure out a way to get this over and done with and get my sister." I huffed. I was tired from that little light trick I performed minutes ago. But I had just gotten rest. I didn't want to sleep again knowing we were nowhere close to getting any answers.
"You'll be of no use to Mel if you're all burnt out. Go to sleep that's an order." He said patting my back and carrying his bottle with him walking in the direction of the stairs.
