Waiting Outside the Lines
by Greyson Chance"Coach... bawal na po ba talaga?"
Coach sighed again as she took her glasses off and looked at me. She was writing something on her pad but stopped because of me.
I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes. How can you be sure that I'll choose you?"
It's about being one of the chosen three. Thinking about it just makes me wanna back out already.
Dalawang araw na lang.
"Coach, thank you if you think that I have a potential—"
"And I chose you to help you see it for yourself."
His eyes went into mine; confused was written on his face as he slowly closed the door, but I immediately looked away.
"Uh, babalik na lang po ako, Coach." He said and was about to open the door when Coach called him.
"No, it's okay, Yael."
I bit my lower lip when he stood beside me, feeling a little awkward because he might have heard the conversation— or not.
It wasn't mad, nor was a disappointed look. It was more of a... hopeful look.
Please, don't give me that look.
"My decision is final, Quinn." It was full of authority.
I could sense that Yael was really confused, but he kept his mouth shut.
I never wanted this to be a big deal. I know Coach only wanted what's best for me, and I know I'm letting the opportunity slip away. People might think that I'm overreacting for making a fuss over this thing, and maybe... maybe I am.
Kalma ka lang, Quinn. Hindi ka pipiliin ni Coach.
"Coach..." I heard Yael called.
I was already at the door, hand on the doorknob, when Coach said something.
