The next morning, I wake up to the smell of French toast, My favorite breakfast food. This is the first good thing to happen this whole trip. I check the time it's only 8:00. I head down the stairs. When I walk into the kitchen, I see Jordan and his mom cooking. I have never seen Jordan cook and now that I see him cooking, I know why. "Jordan, you have to flip it you're not going to impress Logan with burnt French toast, she already wants to leave this is going to send her running," Laura says. I try I hold in my laugh but they hear me anyways. "Good morning Bab- I mean Logan, I didn't know you were awake," Jordan says when he turns around. "I thought the house was on fire I smelt something burning." I try to joke. Once the French toast is done, he puts in on a plate and hands it to me, it's surprisingly really good. When I finish Jordan sits beside me. "Do you want to go for a drive? Mike said I can borrow his car." He sounds nervous. I nod.
I go upstairs to get dressed. When I come back down Jordan is waiting for me and the door. "Ready?" he asks. I'm not sure I really want to leave this house but I'm going to have to sooner or later. We drive without saying a word to each other for at least 20 minutes until I break the silence. "Where are we going?" "To my favorite place in the world." We drive for another 20 minutes, then he parks on the side out the rode and gets out of the car. He rushes over to my side and opens the door. I'm confused there is nothing here but trees. "It's just on the other side of the trees," He says as if he read my mind. On the other side of the trees is a clearing. It doesn't look like much but it's really quiet. "It's nicer in the summer when the flowers are out, I like to come here to thinking," He says. I can see the appeal; Halifax is pretty loud. "I was going to take you here yesterday after supper." He says looking at his feet.
We sit in the clearing and talk for a while I tell him all about me when I was a child and I tell him how I use to live next door to Lacy until we were 11. I tell him about my family and how we were never close until this year. He tells me about his friends, minus Tessa. He tells me the other people there were Tyler, Dylan, and Drake the other girl was Melissa, Tessa's best friend. "How did you and Tessa meet." I'm not sure why I asked the words just sort of came out. "Tyler and Melissa dated. One day when I was hanging out with Tyler, Melissa came over with Tessa and me and her just kind of clicked." He says with even looking me in the eye. "When did you guys break up," I ask. "I found on she was cheating on me with Liam about two weeks before I moved, I tried to make it work with her though. She ended up leaving me for him a few days before we left." He says still not looking me in the eyes. "Do you still love her?" I ask terrified to know the answer. "Honestly, when we were at home, I was scared to death to see her, my feeling for her were gone but I was scared they might come back if I saw her. But then when we were at Tyler's yesterday, she started talking and I finally realized she's not a good person, she's rude to pretty much everyone, I finally realized why my family didn't like her, so to answer you're question, no, I don't love her anymore." He says finally making eye contact with me. "I hope you know that I love you, a lot." I don't know what to say to him, he broke my heart yesterday. I love him. I know I love him and up until yesterday I didn't doubt that he loved me now, I have a lot of doubts. "Anyways, Dani told me if you leave, she will murder me. So, my life is in your hands" He jokes to lighten to mood. It might have been him hinting for me to say if I was going to stay or not. "You're safe for now," I say, he has been truthful with me today and answered all out my questions. Plus, I don't really want to leave. I have an apartment viewing tomorrow.
While we drive back to his house, I keep thinking about the night at the waterfall, and the way he made me feel that night. I'm so lost in thought that I don't even realize when we pull into his driveway. "You coming?" He says pulling me back to reality. I get out of the car and walk into the house. When I walk I see Maddie playing. "Hi girlfriend," she says and looks up at me with a big smile. "Come play," she says holding up her doll. "Sure," I say and sit down with her.
