BELLA
After having breakfast, we decided to stay in for the day and just chill. It had rained all morning, so there wasn't much we could do anyway. We both decided to take a shower and just freshen up from the night before, and then meet up at Johnny's place because he had more movies we could watch.
I literally left my room in my still damp hair, sweatpants, a hoodie, and some fuzzy slippers. I brought some snacks from my pantry and locked the door on my way out. Johnny's apartment was unlocked so I just walked in and I saw him making the couch comfy. He used the table in front of it and brought it closer to the couch so we could stretch our legs.
"I brought some snacks from my place, I know you don't buy lots," I said as I set them down on the counter.
"Well, why would I when I can just steal yours?" Johnny replied cockily as he laid down the huge blankets and pillows.
I laughed and started making my way towards the living room area. "Touché." I sat down on the couch and snuggled up to the blankets and pillows, it was freezing. Yesterday the weather was all nice and warm and it changed all of a sudden.
"Still no sign from Mila?" I asked cautiously, I didn't want to make him sad or anything, but I was genuinely concerned.
"No, she said she would call today to talk, but I don't know when that will be." He plopped down on the couch and ran a hand over the kind-of long strands of hair he had.
"Don't worry Johnny, I'm sure she'll understand. Nothing happened and you told her that we've been best friends for way too long." He still looked unassured, so I continued.
"Surely she knows that if something were to happen between us, it would've happened a long time ago. Not suddenly 5 years later." I said that too mostly to convince myself.
I saw Johnny's expression freeze as I said this, drifting off with his thoughts, until he looked down and sighed. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but he stopped himself before he could say anything anything.
I tilted my head in confusion and waited for him to speak. "You're right, I'll just tell that to her if she still doesn't believe me."
He brought the blankets closer to himself and clutched them, dozing off for a minute or so. I didn't know what to say or do so I just stood up and walked toward the television set, and looked through the films he had.
"What do you wanna watch?" I asked.
"I feel like watching 'Back to the Future', you down for it?" He replied.
"Totally, I love those movies," I inserted the VHS into the television player and came back to the couch.
"I ordered Chinese about half an hour ago, but told them to bring it over at 3:00 p.m. is that okay?" He told me as I pulled the blankets closer to my body.
"Yeah, that's perfect."
We watched the movie in silence, something that rarely happened. We both usually joked about everything or gave our opinions, but I don't know why this just seemed off. I don't know if Johnny felt it too, but I sure did. Maybe it was because he was worried about Mila. I really hated seeing him like this.
After a while, I grabbed the remote and pressed pause. I turned to him and asked seriously, "Johnny, what's wrong?"
He didn't do anything but stare at the TV, and then back at me. "Nothing's wrong, put it on play again."
I scoffed and hooked my head. "Look, I know you, and I know when something's up. Is it Mila?"
He looked down and started fidgeting with his rings. "I know I haven't known her that long. It's almost been like a month, but I think she's great and I don't want to pass this opportunity up."
I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. "Look, I'm a girl too, and if I were in her position, I would want you to come after me. Don't wait for her to call you, I'm pretty sure she secretly wants you to go to her and show her that you want to fix things."
He looked up at me and tried to find the right words to come out. "Yeah, but she told me she wanted some time, she-"
I quickly interrupted him and said, "Johnny, she's had time. She had all of last night and this morning too."
He looked troubled, as if fighting a war with his inner thoughts. After a while, he stood up and said, "You're right. I'm going over to hers. Try and fix things." He went into his room and changed into some jeans and fixed his hair a bit.
"Everything will go fine Johnny, I swear. You're a great person, and she obviously knows that."
He hugged me tightly and said, "Thank you, Izzy, I really hope you're right. You can stay here or do whatever you want." I nodded and pulled away. He headed for the door and called out, "If you need anything just call me."
"Bye!" He waved and closed the door.
I knew that what I told him would work, I know these kinds of things. Seeing him happy made me happy, and that's all that matters.
