17. welcome home party

BELLA

It's been about 4 days since our fight, and we still hadn't spoken, other than for filming purposes. To be honest, it was killing me, and I could tell he felt the same, but Johnny hadn't apologized or anything. I knew that I had to apologize too, but I just couldn't do it.

On a better note, today was Friday, so that meant a night out. Robert Downey Jr., Sarah's boyfriend came home, so the surprise party she was throwing was gonna be today. I got home at about 5 p.m. and called Sarah immediately.

"Hey babe how are you?" Sarah asked.

"Good, how about you?"

"Everything's almost ready for later, so that's great."

"That's just what I was about to ask you, at what time do I get there? And what's the dress code?"

"Everyone will start getting here at about 9:00 p.m., but you can get here earlier if you want. Oh and just whatever you want, formal but not too formal."

"Okay, is it fine if I get there like 8?"

"That's perfect." A slight pause happened after she said this.

"Sarah?" I heard her mumble in response, as if waiting for me to go on.

"Did you ask Johnny if he was gonna be there?" I really didn't want to ask this, but since we weren't talking to each other I had no idea what he would do today.

I heard Sarah sigh over the phone. "You guys are still not talking?"

"Mhm."

"He won't be here, he said something about already having plans." I stopped for a moment, sad that things weren't okay.

"Okay. That's fine, I just wanted to know."

"I'm sorry Bella. We'll talk more when you get here okay?"

"Yeah. See you later S."

"Love you."

I hung up the phone and closed my eyes, taking everything in. I wasn't happy. This wasn't normal for me, I was normally very cheerful and positive, but I just felt drained, with no energy. I want straight to my bed and put an alarm for 7 p.m., and took a quick power nap.

I woke up to the alarm clock blaring, and I quickly stood up and took a shower, to get ready for Robert's party. I put on a short black skirt and a silver sequin spaghetti strap. I did my makeup which only consisted of a cat eyeliner and mascara, and a nude lipstick. I blowdried my hair and grabbed my bag and high heels and left my apartment.

I arrived at Sarah's at about 8:15, which was perfect. She told the bartenders to give us 2 martinis while we waited.

"So..." Sarah began to say something, but trailed off. 

"What?" I asked.

"I saw Johnny yesterday. In the grocery store." 

I rolled my eyes and nodded. "Yes, you told me he wouldn't be able to make it."

"Yeah but Bella that's just it, he looked awful. Like he hadn't slept in days, and he just looked sad." 

I looked down and sighed. "Yeah well none of us have been getting some rest. We've been working a lot." 

Sarah rolled her eyes and said, "You know that's not why." 

I put my head in my hands and groaned.

"It's just never been this long Sarah, every time we had a fight we would fix it on the same day."
