Finally becoming independent from her parents was something Lyra had always dreamed of, but now that it has happened, she couldn't help the homesick feeling in the pit of her stomach. It felt weird having to do everything for herself without her mum or dad to turn to when she got stuck. Lando and Sacha were both pretty useless when it came to household tasks so there were a lot of phone calls home within the first few days. From working the dishwasher, to trying to remove the stain of wine spilled on their taupe carpet (it was all Lando's fault for knocking Lyra's glass off the coffee table), they definitely had their work cut out for them.
It wasn't long until Lyra and Sacha became close; Lando still had racing commitments that could sometimes occupy him for many hours a day. When they weren't playing on the PlayStation together, or coaching each other through a work out, they were cuddled together on the L-shaped sofa watching movies on Netflix. It was a convenience that they had a similar taste in films so there were no disagreements. On several occasions, Lando had come home to find the two asleep, with Lyra's head usually resting on Sacha's chest, and then proceeded to tease them about it the next day.
Despite their sudden closeness, neither wanted anything more from the friendship. The kiss they shared after a couple of drinks further proved that fact. They had a great friendship - nothing more, nothing less.
Sacha had an inkling that Lyra had feelings for Lando and made a self-promise to try and get them together somehow. It was the way that she always seemed to smile whenever she saw him, and how she would always be touching him in some way when he was next to her. What was surprising to Sacha was the fact that Lando seemed to do the exact same to Lyra, and he didn't even act that way with his girlfriend of two years. When the young Brit finally announced to his friends that he and Gem were experiencing some troubles, Sacha couldn't be happier. Sure, he was sad for his friend, but he and Lyra both didn't like her very much any way. In their opinion, she was too jealous for him, especially since he had such a strong, unbreakable relationship with another girl.
Although Lyra had her feelings for Lando, she could never bring herself to act on them because she valued what they had so much. The last thing she wanted was to compromise it, no matter how much it hurt to see him with other girls.
Lyra wasn't feeling very well when Lando raced at Spa so she promised him that she would attend the following race in Italy instead. That weekend also happened to fall on her birthday. Much to her dismay, Lando had bought Lyra gifts in addition to paying for her trip to watch him race. She wouldn't know what they were until her birthday actually arrived, but both Lando and Sacha seemed excited for her to receive them.
Adam joined Lando, Lyra, and Sacha in Italy so that he could support his son in Formula 2. He always tried to attend all of his son's races to show his support but it wasn't always possible with other commitments. Having another familiar face to keep her company when Lando was in the car brought Lyra some ease about the crowded paddock. Sacha was also there to hold her hand in reassurance whenever the paddock became packed.
On Friday, Lando managed to put in an okay performance, qualifying seventh for the feature race, however being promoted into sixth when Antonio Fuoco received a grid penalty. Although Lyra knew that Lando was a phenomenal driver, she couldn't help but experience nervous butterflies in her stomach when she watched him on the screens. Her bottom lip had already started to bleed with the amount she chewed it by the time the feature race had finished on Saturday, where Lando placed a respectable sixth. His championship rival, George Russell, placed fourth. With the additional four points from pole position, George maintained his lead over Lando.
