present day - saturday, 26/07/2020

I looked in the mirror and smoothed down my outfit. A white, sleeveless bodysuit was tucked into my high waisted jeans, a black belt securing the waist tightly to my body. The bodysuit was low-cut, however didn't show off anything other than my gold-chain necklace with 'L' at the bottom detailed with small diamonds. On my feet, I wore my white converse to match my bodysuit, and had a small black purse slung over my shoulder to match my belt. My clothes were intentionally comfortable in order to suit the day's activity ahead. It was a big day for me, after all - my first date with Nicky.

To say I was nervous was an understatement. It took me three hours of preparation last night just to decide on an outfit to wear. In the end, I had to FaceTime Martha just for her approval since Lando was no use. He seemed annoyed that I was going out instead of spending my day with him on his day off. This day just so happened to be Nicky's only day off, too, and I sure as Hell wasn't going to be listening to Lando as he played Call of Duty with his friends again.

Letting out a shaky breath, I adjusted the yellow bandana in my hair, which I had folded into a hair band to push my hair out of my face. I spent over an hour on my makeup so I wanted to show it off, well, that and the fact that no outfit of mine would be complete without something yellow. It took a while to blend out the brown eyeshadow in a way that complimented the shape of my black eyeliner, and add the perfect amount of shimmer to make my blue eyes pop. My blonde hair was quite long at the moment because of the lack-of-access to an appointment at a hairdressers. I didn't trust Lando with scissors near my hair after watching him completely butcher his brown curls. I had hoped that the haircut would help change the feelings I had for him, but unfortunately he still made my heart swoon. My only shot at moving on was with Nicholas.

The carpet muffled my steps as I hurried down the stairs. I couldn't wipe the grin of excitement from my face as I bounced into the kitchen where Lando was making himself lunch.

"Hey," I greeted, jumping up onto the counter beside him. I leaned back on my hands and crossed my leg over the other.

"Hey," he replied. His voice was a little lower than usual, most likely from the fact that he was still bitter and dramatic that I wasn't spending my Saturday with him. We don't see much of each other during a race week because I'm not allowed to travel to the circuits due to the restrictions in place. He was being dramatic, in my opinion; the next two races were in the UK so he could travel home in between the races. Lando briefly looked up before resuming cutting his lettuce. "You look nice."

"Just nice?" I raised an eyebrow. "I was going for breathtaking."

"Yeah, that, too."

I grabbed a slice of already cut cucumber and popped it into my mouth, savouring the taste since I had yet to eat anything other than a banana this morning. "What about me is breathtaking?"

Lando huffed. "I'm not in the mood, Lyra."

"Okay, Mr Grumpy." I jumped off the counter and flicked my hair over my shoulder. "Whilst I'm gone, I hope you manage to pull those boxers out your ass because I do not want you to be in a mood when I get back."
