The stage was set and the audience were in their seats. The time had come to turn my world back up the right way and get my best friend back.
The school had decided to sell tickets and use our GCSE performances, to raise money for a much loved local charity. So I was doing this and all in front of a live audience.
I guess if I was going down, then I was going down in a blaze of glory and at this point, I'd spent long enough apart from my best friend in the world, to not care and I'd do anything to reunite us. So that's what I did.
It was painstaking waiting to perform and typically I was the last person in the line up. It meant that I got to see those who soared and those who bombed, right before my very eyes, which gave me that last boost of adrenaline and nerves that I didn't need.
When my time came to step out on to the stage, I did so with poise and with every inch of confidence that I'd managed to build back up. One thing that all of this had taught me, was that the only opinion of yourself that truly mattered, was your own one and that it was time to finally practice what I'd been preaching for so long. It was time to be who I wanted to be.
I sat down at the piano and begun to play.

The room erupted in applause that deafened me and lasted for the next five minutes, before finally being broken by Mr. Baker who announced that the exam was now over.
I would never forget this moment for as long as I lived and somewhere in the far corner of the room, someone else felt the same.
Beth looked over to Malek and said,
'It's over.'
'I know.' He replied.
