I awoke the next day very early in the morning by Coran waking me up. With a grown I threw my blue jacket on over my white shirt and pants (aka my pyjamas) and followed him out.
He grabbed everyone else and we all headed to the detainment room.
Realizing we were missing Pidge he went to go contact her through the coms.
I yawned leaning back against the wall and everyone turned to look at me.
"I'm surprised, normally your the one up before all of us, you must be tired." Hunk spoke and I nodded yawning again.
"Mhm, I guess I am." I mumbled as Shiro quirked an eyebrow at me.
"I'll ask again, are you alright Iris?"
"Yeah, I guess. I'm just tired after yesterday." I sighed as Coran walked back in going over to the pod where Sendak was held.
Pidge walked in and joined us as Coran placed devices on Sendak's pod.
"Okay, guys, Sendak's almost all hooked up. But, look, I have to warn you, this technology was used to keep Altean memories alive, not to interrogate prisoners." Coran informed us.
"Coran, we understand this isn't what the technology was meant for, but if we can extract Sendak's memories, we may gain valuable intelligence on Zarkon's troop locations." Shiro spoke using his more official voice I heard all the time at the Garrison.
"Yeah, and then we can just be like, 'Knock-knock.' 'Who's there?' 'The avenging fury of Voltron, son!'" Lance joked and I smiled tiredly
"Fascinating. So, how exactly does this work?" Pidge asked adjusting her glasses.
"As the memories are extracted, they're written bit by bit on individual molecules of the micro-storage strands." Coran explained and I nodded leaning more against the wall pulling my jacket tight around me.
"When I go, I want all the stuff in my brain stored in a giant ship." Lance sighed with a smile and I shrugged.
"The amount of information in your brain could be stored in a paper airplane." Keith retorted and I groaned making both boys look over at me.
"If you two continue to argue I will find a way to make your life terrible." I mumbled almost silently, and some how both managed to get the point.
"So this is how you incorporated King Alfor's memories into the Castle of Lions ?" Pidge asked observing the pod.
"Precisely, but it's never been attempted before on an unwilling participant." Coran informed us as the device activates.
We all waited a second before Hunk spoke up.
"Uh, is this what's supposed to be happening?" He asked and I shrugged again.
"Let's give it some time." Shiro insisted.
We waited for a long time all standing around before Keith sighed.
"Well, I can't wait around anymore. I'm gonna to hit the training deck." He spoke and I nodded.
As more time passed I sat down against the wall.
"Okay, if anyone needs me, I'll be in the lab. Maybe I can pull some information from Sendak's Galra Crystal." Pidge spoke giving me a pat on the head before walking out.
More time passed and we still had no results.
"Time to feed the beast. I'm going to go make some breakfast." Hunk spoke giving his stomach a pat, before walking out.
"Well, I'm afraid I can't wait here any longer, either. I have a million duties to attend to. Between that Galra Crystal infecting our system, and then fighting off those ships and performing the Balmeran rejuvenation ceremony, the old Castle of Lions has taken quite a beating. Every system needs to be recharged and repaired." Coran spoke looking to me, Lance, and Shiro.
"I'll stay. Somewhere in Sendak's mind is the information about Zarkon that we need." Shiro insisted
"I'll sta-"
"Iris, you need to rest. Please you've been through a lot in these past couple days. Your getting pale and you need to sleep, alright?" Shiro insisted bending down to my level.
"I'll go sleep." I mumbled taking Shiro's hand to stand up, leaning into him.
"Okay, well, while you guys do that, I think I'm gonna get my chill on. Maybe kick back with a lemonade or space juice. Something." Lance spoke turning to leave but was stopped by Coran.
"Oh, hold on there, space juice. You're going to come and help me." Coran insisted.
"What? Why? Why me?"
"Because you're here and because your activity isn't very important." Coran insisted as I tightened my hold on Shiro's hand. I felt Shiro's grip tighten as Lance rambled trying to think of an excuse.
"Well I'll come, do you want help before I go Iris?" Lance asked and I looked up to Shiro, nodding as Lance held his arms out to me. I stepped into his hold as Lance draped my arm around his neck and wrapped an arm around my waist.
"Let us know if anything happens." Lance spoke as we both started walking away, not getting a reply from Shiro.
"Shiro?"
"Y-you got it." Shiro stuttered as me and Lance walked out.
