Travis.

There was a green pill that I was supposed to take sitting in the pocket of my jeans. I had taken the other one Vik gave me but that green one was one he had been giving me since I was younger. The green one had been the same type I stole from the Casey's. That green one and I were well acquainted with each other by this point so it was easy to fake the effects of it.

What wasn't easy to stomach was the nausea in my stomach from too many things in my system and the slight trembling in my bones from wanting to take the green pill.

But Cameron gave me a job so I had to do it.

It was as simple as that.

Vik was to my left. Another one of Lucky's minions, one of the ones who had so kindly escorted me here, stayed in the room here and stood to my right. This guy looked vaguely familiar but I wasn't sure. There were two windows in here. One door. One desk. Three chairs. Four different things I could get to in less than five steps and use as a weapon. One Lucky, looking like a moron.

He was standing in front of me, leaning casually back against his desk like this situation was calm and not an entirely fucked up kidnapping. My eyes were glued to the feather in his hair.

He was talking. I wasn't listening but that wasn't entirely my fault. The drug Vik gave me was in my veins. Plus, that little green pill never helped me focus so I didn't see a reason to start now if they thought I took it.

Why did he have a feather in his hair?

I swore the last one was a different color. Today it was teal. Did he change it daily? Maybe I imagined it being red before. Maybe it was always teal.

He was talk, talk, talking. Vik snapped in front of my face and got my attention. Fear pulsed in my veins for a moment and then I forced it out. I couldn't be afraid of Vik. Cameron gave me a job. I didn't bother with a response.

"He asked you a question," Vik prompted. "Answer."

Lucky was gazing at me.

Where was his chest of feathers? What would a chest like that even look like?

He kept looking at me, waiting and I looked back because I didn't have a damn clue what the question was.

"Did you change that feather?" I asked when the silence became too much.

Vik hit the back of my head and I stumbled forward. Lucky caught me and held me at an arms length.

"I thought you had him under control," Lucky shot a look at Vik.
