Lacey.
After they managed to cover themselves in purple powder, Travis and Finn hadn't even glanced in my direction when they walked past the front of the house and toward the back door. There may have been a hose back there but I wasn't sure and it seemed too cold for that. A haze of purple trickled off of them as they walked by, looking like two giant crayons. Well, Travis' lower half and head looked like a crayon. He still had his shirt off as he walked, revealing his chest and tattooed arms. Walking around shirtless was also something I thought it was too cold for but I wasn't about to complain.
Somehow, I was more surprised over the fact that they didn't stare Josh and I down while they walked. The two definitely didn't like Josh from what I'd seen in the past. I wasn't entirely sure about where Finn's feelings fell, but I could still clearly picture him trying to fight Josh when we were all at the Casey house last.
"You can't go in the house like that!" Annabeth's shriek filled the air somewhere behind us where Travis and Finn had headed.
Josh left shortly after that, with Cameron conveniently coming out right as Josh announced he had better go. Cameron asked if he was staying in town and Josh said he had gotten a hotel in town so he wouldn't have to drive too much all in one day.
"What hotel? We'll find you in the morning and we can get breakfast, show you town," Cameron said and I nearly fell over.
My feelings toward Josh were appreciative but he wasn't always the best. If it benefited him, he was great but if it didn't, you didn't exactly know where you stood with him. I was thankful that he'd helped us out and I had spent almost three years training and competing alongside him. But that didn't mean that I wanted to get cozy and show him around town for no reason.
Josh stumbled over his words and then looked embarrassed over that fact. "Yeah, sure. Yeah, I'd love that. That'd be great. I'm all over coffee. I'm staying at the Daisy Den," he coughed, trying to control himself. "I mean, okay cool." Josh looked over at me after his fanboy ramble, regret on his face. "Okay bye, Carson," He'd barely seen me wave back before he was running down the steps of the house and to his car.
I honestly couldn't tell if he was impressed by Cameron or scared of him but it didn't matter because I had more important things to figure out.
"Who are you?" My voice came out in complete awe and confusion.
Cameron raised an eyebrow at me.
"We can get breakfast?" I repeated slowly, making sure he heard every word. "Show you around town?"
Apparently Cameron had used up his entire bank of socialization points because he still didn't give me any sort of explanation.
"What the heck was that?" I shot out. "Are you okay? Cam, are you dying?" I paused. "Is this because he called you a porcupine?"
