Lacey.
I was woken up by Cameron standing over me, and Hannah, who was crouched down beside the mattress feeling Travis' head. I moved to the very edge of the mattress, giving Hannah any room she needed.
Cameron's shoes scuffed along the floor as he walked to the door and looked at me. He cleared his throat.
I raised my eyebrow because he could speak to me like an adult. I wasn't going to be summoned with snapping fingers and glares and ahems.
He crooked his finger a few times in a come here motion.
Instead of responding, I watched Hannah as she raised Travis' pant leg and started inspecting his swollen ankle. Travis didn't stir which concerned me. This was Travis, who I'd seen first hand just how light of a sleeper he was and now someone was touching him in places that probably hurt and he was sleeping through it.
"Lacey," Cameron said.
"Is he okay?" I asked Hannah, even though she told me so yesterday but worry was weaving its way inside of my chest.
"His body's going through a lot." She hesitated before speaking again, her attention was on Travis. "And I need some supplies I didn't bring with me when we left. I should've brought more, I just didn't know what-" Hannah paused and stared hard at Travis.
"You didn't know," Cameron said and then in an authoritative voice said, "So stop thinking like that."
Because apparently Camerom Casey assumed if he said something with enough force behind it, people would stop worrying, stop thinking, just stop. But it seemed to be enough for Hannah because she went back to poking Travis.
"I made a list of things I need. Annabeth said you'd go with her," she told me which was news to me but I didn't argue it. I'd go to every store in a fifty mile radius with Annabeth if Hannah needed me to.
"Come with me," Cameron said once more, eyes set on me.
I sighed inwardly because he had no manners but at least he was speaking. I followed him out of the room.
"What?" I snapped.
Cameron glared at me. "You need to eat."
This was what he pulled me out of the room for?
"I'm not hungry," I told him, trying to remain as calm as I could because I didn't need him to tell me when to come eat. I wanted to be with Travis.
"I don't care," he said.
I turned to walk back towards the room and my words had a little more bite in them than I intended as I said, "I'm fine."
Cameron grabbed my elbow. "I didn't ask."
"I don't care," I said, dropping my voice low in my best impression of his words only a second ago.
It was no surprise when Cameron didn't look the least bit impressed with me.
I didn't want to leave Travis right now. He'd been away from me for days and I wanted to soak up as much time with him as I possibly could to make up for it. The only reason I was going to leave would be to get supplies for him or the others. I didn't need to go out and have food with everyone else which by the sounds of it, they were all in the kitchen already. I didn't want to carry on with my day as if nothing was out of the ordinary while Travis still wasn't okay.
Cameron put his hand on the back of my neck, fingers splayed along the tops of my shoulders and he pushed me forward, not giving me a choice.
"I don't need to eat," I stressed, trying to glare at him but he was standing too close and was too tall for me to seem even the least bit intimidating.
