Zavion POV

The blind date I had with Serah turned out to be a disaster, and we both ended up deciding to fight for our respective partners, but I really doubt my parents understand the situation. We've been stuck on this same conversation for three hours now, and it's getting exhausting. My dad has picked up on my mom's strange behavior, yet she still hasn't found the courage to tell him about her cancer. He tries to act tough, but I can see that he's struggling emotionally.

After seeing the video of Serah and me, my mom was really let down and immediately suggested setting me up on another blind date. It's like she just won't take no for an answer. Meanwhile, Ethan is still giving me the cold shoulder, and it's obvious to everyone in the house. He hasn't shared what went down that night, and Izzy, who thought everything was fine between us, is dying to know the details. She has no clue about Ethan's feelings for Zoe, and I'm not about to spill that secret. I really miss Zoe's cooking; she was the best chef I knew, second only to my mom, but with her condition, she can't cook anymore. The chefs my dad hired just don't cut it; their meals are nowhere near as satisfying as what Zoe used to whip up.

We were all gathered around the dining table, and I noticed Izzy glancing at me and Ethan before returning her gaze to her plate. Usually, the atmosphere is lively with chatter, but today was different; it felt unusually quiet. Dad picked up on the silence and started drumming his fingers on the table. "This is too quiet! What's going on? Did something happen while I was away?" he exclaimed, his voice booming.

Izzy rolled her eyes and replied, "Dad, isn't this the kind of silence you've always wanted during meals?"

He shook his head, clearly frustrated. "Not like this, Isabella! I wanted a peaceful meal, not this awkwardness. Ethan, you and Isabella usually bicker at dinner—what's changed?"

Ethan shrugged and said, "We've matured, Dad."

I tried to lighten the mood by suggesting, "Let's just enjoy our food."

But Ethan shot back, "I wasn't talking to you, Zavion," his tone sharp.

Ian piped up, "Awkward!" which only added to the tension.

Ethan snapped, "I wasn't talking to you either, Ian."

Izzy, sipping her water, asked, "Ethan, what's your deal? Why are you snapping at everyone?"

He insisted, "I'm not mad at anyone; I just need some space."

Dad chimed in, "Space from your family?"

Ethan replied, "I just don't feel like talking." He stood up, but I quickly grabbed his hand, shaking my head. He didn't want anyone to know about his feelings for Zoe, especially not Dad, who had no idea she'd been staying at the mansion for a month. Thankfully, Ethan sat back down.

Mom then tried to change the subject, suggesting dessert. "How about cake?" she offered.

I jumped in, "I'd rather have chocolate."

Izzy raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's with your obsession with that?"

"Zee liked it, so I guess I share that sentiment too."

"Zee? That name rings a bell, but I can't quite place it," Mom chimed in.

Ian glanced at me and said, "She was the girl who used to play with us when we were kids."

Mom's eyes widened as she replied, "Wow, it feels like ages ago; I've even started to forget some things... I haven't heard from her in years." She then turned to Dad and asked, "Have you had any word from Mr. Calabatti recently?"
