Zavion POV

When I finally opened my eyes, I was hoping to see her by my side, but instead, it was just my family surrounding me. I scanned the room, searching for any sign of her, but she was nowhere to be found. I attempted to get up, but Izzy gently held me back. I asked her where Zee was, and she admitted she hadn't seen her either. A few minutes later, I managed to get out of bed and went looking for Chloe. I found her in her room, lost in a book. I let out a sigh and inquired about Zoe's whereabouts. For a moment, I mistook Chloe for Zoe, but then it hit me that they were twins.

"Zoe?" she echoed, about to elaborate, but I cut her off.

"Yes, where is she?" I pressed.

Chloe suggested that if Zoe wasn't there, she might have gone home. I grabbed my phone to call her, but she didn't answer.

"She isn't picking up," I told Chloe, feeling a knot of worry tighten in my stomach.

"That means she already left," Chloe said, her lips curling into a frown.

"Left? Where to?" I asked, my confusion deepening.

"We had a deal before I got shot, and she felt like she was a burden to you. She thought being with you would only cause more pain, so she decided to go... I tried to convince her to stay, but she was really stubborn about it."

"Where do you think she might have gone?" I asked, desperate for answers.

"I have no idea, and she doesn't really know anyone..." Chloe paused for a moment, then added, "Except..."

"Except...?" I prompted, eager for more information.

"Our aunt Augusta," she finally said.

"And where does she live?" I asked, my heart racing.

"She has a ranch in Brooklyn... I can send you the address, but you need to focus on recovering first if you really want to find her."

"I need to see her," I insisted, determination flooding my veins.

"She'll be okay, trust me."

"But we can't promise anything right now; Alex is still out there, and that puts her in a risky situation."

"I get that you're worried, but if you don't take care of yourself, you won't have the energy to help find her. And don't stress too much about Alex; he won't be able to hurt her this time around."

"Alright, just send me the address," I replied.

"Look, my sister may seem tough, but she's really delicate. Please be gentle with her. I know you care about her, and she feels the same way, so just do your best to make her happy." She let the book slip from her hands.

"You don't need to worry; I know your sister well enough, and I promise to look after her," I assured her, just as Ian walked in.

"Zoe?" he called out, moving in for a hug, but I stepped in to stop him.

"That's not Zoe; that's her twin."

"Zoe has a twin?" he asked, clearly surprised.

"Yeah, I just found out too."

"If you're not Zoe, then what's your name?" he inquired.

"I'm Chloe," she answered.

"Are you alright?" he continued.

She smiled and said, "Yes, I am... Thanks for asking."

"This is getting a bit awkward; I'll let you two chat," I said and left, closing the door behind me. That was strange; Ian was being nicer than usual. Now I had to find Zee. She has caused me enough trouble, and she thought that if she was not around, I would be fine. Seriously? The thought of her not being here scared me to death. I headed back to my room to talk to Dad. "I want to be discharged."

"But you're still weak; you're even limping," he replied.

"Can't you just wait one more day before deciding to go home?" Mom chimed in.

"Alright, if that's what you think," I replied, plopping down on the bed.

Mom set a steaming bowl of fish soup in front of me, but I could hardly stomach it. My mind was racing with thoughts of Zoe and the potential danger she might be facing. I absentmindedly toyed with my food, eventually put it on the table. There was no way I could finish it. I reclined back against the pillows, watching the clock tick by at a snail's pace, longing for the moment I could finally get out of this bed. Izzy settled beside me, offering her support. "Thanks for coming to help us out," I said with a weak smile.

"I know you didn't want to get involved, but you nearly lost your life... I'm so relieved I found that address you wrote down."

"When I saw her tied to that chair, she looked so scared. She's been through so much, and now she feels like she has to run away from me."

"That's not really the issue here."

"Her sister mentioned that Zoe is afraid of being with me, thinking that if she stays close, I might get hurt. How could she even think that?"

"You need to find her and show her that without her, you're the one who gets hurt. She needs to understand how much she means to you."

"I just want to get out of this bed," I sighed.

"You will, but you have to take it easy... Oh, and there's something I've been meaning to tell you that's been on my mind."

"What is it?" I asked, intrigued.

"It's been two weeks since I accidentally went into that room Dad told us to stay away from."

"Accidentally or were you just curious?"

"Okay, you caught me; I was curious... And guess what I discovered."

"What?" I leaned in, eager to know.

"Well, it's not a what; it's a who."

"Come on, spill it! Who did you see in there?"

"A guy, he was getting some kind of treatment... totally out cold."

"Don't tell me Dad is..." I quickly clamped a hand over my mouth.

"What the hell are you talking about?" she shot back.

"Please don't say Dad is involved in something shady."

"Shady? Zavion?"

"Then what's he doing with an unconscious guy? And why has that room been locked up for three years?"

"Maybe he was trying to save the man's life."

"Did you even catch a glimpse of his face?" I pressed.

"I couldn't, Ian almost spotted me, so I bolted."

"We need to confront Dad and figure out who that guy is."

"Maybe we should ask Mom; she might have some info."

"No way, let's not bother Mom right now; she's not doing well," I advised.

"Alright, I won't, but you better recover soon so we can get to the bottom of this... hold on a second."

"What is it?"

"Have you seen Ian? I've been looking for him everywhere."

"Oh, I left him with Chloe."

"Chloe? You mean Zoe's evil twin? She's going to eat him alive!"

"I doubt that's what's going on; they looked like they were having a good time."

"Wow, Ian really knows how to surprise me sometimes," she said with a scoff, shaking her head.
