Chapter 36: Road Trip Song

~ Alex ~ 

 The next day, I woke up to a hand touching my arm. 

“ Alex, good morning.” I hear a familiar voice say. 

Thinking that it was my Dad, half asleep with my eyes still closed I say, “ Hmm 10 more min-” 

I stop mid sentence to open my eyes half way, but I quickly fully open them to see Tyler sitting on my bed next to me. 

“ W-what are you doing here?” I say, shooting up from my bed. 

“ I came to say good morning.” he said, smiling.

“ Well you could have just texted me to come over! Geez!” I say, getting out of bed and stretching. 

~ Tyler ~ 

No matter if Alex is wearing or not wearing make-up, she still looks amazing, even if she just woke up. 

Wow what am I saying? I feel like I am falling more in love with her each day. 

“ I am gonna shower up real quick and then we can head to your place.” she says, while grabbing some clothes from her closet. 

 “ Okay.” I say, smiling. 

 She quickly disappears into the bathroom, and I soon heard the sound of the shower water running. 

 All of the sudden, I hear her call my name. 

 “ Tyler..I-uh forgot a towel…could you uh-get one for me please? They’re in the closet door in the hallway.” 

My heart stopped. 

 “ Yeah sure.” I say, trying to remain calm. 

 Once I grabbed one, I walked to the closed bathroom door. 

 “ Um ok, I’m coming in…” I say, closing my eyes as I open the bathroom door. 

 As I walk in, I trip against something, and something falls off of the bathroom counter. 

 “ Are you ok?” I hear her say behind the shower curtain. 

 “ Yeah.” I say as I run out of there and close the door behind me. 

 I let out a big breath, and go back to her room. 

 I then sit down on her bed, and look around. 

 Her songwriting book was lying on her nightstand, and I started to get it, when all of the sudden, I feel my arm being grabbed by a small hand. 

“ Hey! What do you think you’re doing?” I hear Alex say. 

I quickly turn to face her. And my heart skipped a beat. 

Her wet hair and the towel wrapped around her perfect body made me start to feel something inside that I couldn’t explain. 

“ S-sorry…I’ll let you get dressed.” I say as I leaved her room and close her door behind me. 

 A couple minutes later, I hear her come down the stairs. 

 She smiles at me, and grabs her bag as I open the door for us to go my place. 

It’s almost spring break, and I really want to ask her if she wants to come with me on a road trip. 

I’m just not sure how she’ll think of it. But, if I ask her about it, and that it would be a great thing to do as friends, then maybe she’ll do it. 

 We get inside my house, and head down to my studio.  

 I then get a really good idea, and decide to ask her in the form of a song. 

 “ Hey I have a song that I’m working on, wanna hear it?” I say, grabbing the guitar that Alex got me for my birthday. 

“ Sure!” she says, smiling. 

 We both sit down on the couch, and I turn to face her, guitar in hand. 

 I’m pretty good at making songs up on the spot, so I think this will go pretty well. 

 I clear my throat, and she lets out a small laugh, which a honestly think is the most adorable thing ever. 

Spring break is coming up, and see I’ve got this car. 

You and me..we could go far…. 

To the country states, the west coast, 

In the car, we could eat some toast 

I then hear a little chuckle from her again after singing that line, knowing that I couldn't think of anything else to rhyme with for coast. 

I want to see everything with you 

And I hope you want to 

So all I’m asking is…

Do you want to…

Go on a road trip…

With me…

 I strum the last chord, and I immeadilty see her face light up. 

“ Tyler, I would love too!” she says, smiling.
