I wake up and roll over to check my phone, hoping it's not really September 5, hoping I won't have to go back to that horrid place- but it is. Why can't I just be home-schooled? I asked myself.
I got out of bed before my mother would have come to pry me out. Took a shower and pulled on some sweats and a baggy sweatshirt I got when I went to Portland, Oregan. First day of junior year, most girls would pile on makeup and wear the miniest of skirts, but I'm not one of those. I used to be before it all happened, vut i try not to think about it. I tied my hair back in a messy ponytail and picked up my glasses, God, I hated these things why can't I just go back to contacts. Grabbed my backpack. Then I scurried downstairs. I found a plate of eggs, bacon and toast on the table with a cup of tea. I paused and looked at my phone to check the weather and found that it was supposed to rain and I was giong to be late so I just grabed a piece of bacon and stuffed it in my mouth and took a sip of tea. There was a note on the fridge from my mother: Please dress nice, it's the start of junior year - Love, Mom. Meh, she'll live. I ran out to my in my truck I need a better car and made my way off to Merriweather High School.
As I pulled into the parking lot, I saw Axel Ramirez, the quarterback and my neighbor of - well all my life, getting out of his Mercedes-Benz Convertible and the entire student body flocking to him and his sister, Serena. I hustled as quickly as my battered converses could take me, inside the building and up to my homeroom. I took my usual seat, front row directly in the middle and took out my first novel of the week.
"Who does she think she is? Does she really think my team will vote her captain over me? I've been captain for three years now- Axel are you even listening to me?" Christina screeched complaining to her trophy piece.
"Yea I heard you." Axel said ever so nonchalantly it made me giggle a little.
"Well say something. Gosh! you're so inconsiderate! I listen to you rant on and on about your football stuff" she shouted. I wonder if she knows how annoying her voice is.
"What do you want me to say? Babe you already know that Amanda could never replace you as captain. All the other cheerleaders love you. Listen, if it wasn't for you they wouldn't have won regionals last year. Now stop worrying you pretty little head and come here" Axel comforted her and brought her in for an embrace. Oh, his voice was so beautiful, why can't he just notice me for once? Who was I kidding, he's Axel Ramirez, town bad boy, football quaterback and has been with Christina since sophmore year. There's no hope for me. She's the one that changed him, got him to settle down and stop with the one night stands.
"Some people just don't care about their appearance." Jolted Annabelle, Christina mainminion since 7th grade.
"I know right. I mean we're upperclassmen, we're supposed to show everyone else the expections that come with going to Merriweather High." Christina replied at a volume just above a whisper, loud enough for me to hear. Their jokes and comments didn't phase me anymore, I stopped caring what they thought around the middle of 7th grade when my dad left. That year I was diagnosed with mild depression and became a loner. Thus was the birth of nerdy-Cassie.
Mr. Weigner walked in and gave us each our schedules and made announcements for the day.
There will be a club fair in the cafeteria at lunch, so come out and sign up for any clubs that interest you. If you are interested in startinh any clubs please get atleats 20 pledges and then come run your idea by the Dean of School Affairs. Have a great first day of school and if you are new here: "Welcome to Merriweather High School!"
Three minutes after Mr. Weigner was done with the announcements the first bell rang and I got up to go to Chemistry class on the fourth floor.
"Ughh they stuck me with Mrs. Snowden on the fourth floor again. Don't they know that it takes way too much energy out of me to go all the way up there first thing in the morning." Christina complained. Is that all she ever does? Well this class is going to be fun, Mrs. Snowden always pairs me and Christina again, for some reason she thiks we like each other.
