The rest of the day went by pretty smoothly except for a freshman tripping and dumping their tray on me in the cafeteria. Ugh! I just have the worst luck.

"Hey hun, I hope you had a great first day. I won't be home until around 7, some stuff came up at work." Mom texted me. Honestly I had no problem with her being at work late, it gave me more time to read and sleep without her being worried about my social life.

I made my way out to the school parking lot to find that it was raining. I didn't remember seeing anything on the news about rain but whatever. I ran to my truck and tried to start it up but I wasn't surprised when it didn't start.

I got out and went to look under the hood. What the hell is this contraption? I asked myself as I peered at all the pieces as if I knew what I was looking for.

"Do you even know what you're looking at?"

I jumped startled by the familiar voice because I hadn't any footsteps. I turned around to see the Ramirez siblings standing behind me. Serena fascinated by something on her phone and Axel making his way to me.

"What happened?" he asked peering at the contraption in front of me.

"Umm I don't know, it just won't start" I said with my eyebrows furrowed. He looked at it and started touching stuff. "You don't have to try and fix it, this happens all the time. I usually just-"

"Hey, sweet cheeks, stop ranting and start the engine" Axel said with a little wink that got my heart racing. Did he just call me sweet cheeks? I asked myself as I made my over to the driver's side. I turned the key and the engine roared. No way! He touched one thing and fixed it.

"How did you-?"

"Don't worry about it, just get home safe. I'll call you so we can get started on that chem homework." Oh! Did I mention we exchanged numbers. Me: Cassie Montgomery, school nerd and loner, has Axel Ramirez's number.

I got in my truck and told him bye to which he replied with a wink and smirk.

On my drove home all I could think of was him calling me sweet cheeks. I mean I knew I blushed every time he winked at me but calling me sweet cheeks was kind of major.
Sweet cheeks, he says it with such intimacy.
