Finally, I was able to see the sunlight again.
The sun warmed up the shackles that remained locked to my wrists, bounding them together.
A hand had guided me by my shoulder.
It was Hanj's hand.
She chaperoned Levi, me, and another fellow soldier, who seemed to be constantly taking notes.
We were set in a carriage with the four of us, and a rider who was transporting us somewhere.
~
I didn't get much of a view of the outside, but the ride was predominantly silence.
We exited the carriage, and once again, Hanji guided me.
I knew this place.
It was and outer wall, a little unit or district of some kind far out of Wall Sina.
It was distant and seemed to be abandoned. Or maybe not. Just miles and miles on end of farming field that still seemed unoccupied.
"Alright then." I heard Hanji's voice announce as she set out some of her reliable tools.
"Hanji! Captain Levi" a familiar voice called out as they approached with someone else on horse back.
It was Eren and Hitch.
Hitch smiled and sent me a small wave.
I nodded but wasn't able to produce any other signals or signs.
Eren didn't look at me, as he was busy focusing on the other two head soldiers.
~
"How are you holding up?" Hitch asked me with her hands in her coat pockets.
I took in a deep breathe and let it out. "Could be better..."
She smiled softly, "On that we can agree."
I looked at her. "Any idea what's going to take place here?"
She rose a brow and looked at the 3 soldiers talking. "No clue." She shrugged. "But I did here something about exercise."
She chuckled a bit. "You've always been good at crap like that, no problem for you, rigjt Annie?"
I nodded.
Then she added something I had been looking forward to hearing.
"Don't worry, they're no gonna make you turn into any titan, they still don't know your limits."
I nodded once more.
The three head soldiers all agreed on something I couldn't hear and turned to me and Hitch.
"Alright Leonhardt, were gonna test your skills today, only your human skills. We've got trading like cardio, sparring, and strategy skills. All of this may seem tedious and boring but it's all worth it. If you can get though all this without a problem, it will prove worthy of your faith. Let's go, not time to waste." Hanji said pretty quickly.
~
We had spun through cardio, which was a standard 80 laps paver test. Which was equivalent to my daily run of 1 mile. Then we had done strategy and sparring. I had sparred against Hitch, Eren, and Levi. To my surprise I managed to defeat Levi rather quickly. He is strength, but just like Mikasa, no skill, especially without their powers. As for strategy, I had used my original kunoichi skill, my swung-on kicks, and my speed to over power my opponent.
~
At the end of the day, as the sun had set, my shackles had been locked on my hands again.
I headed into the carriage and kept my head down, to ponder about a few things,
Suddenly a figure appeared on the outside of the carriage next to me. I turned my head, it was, Eren?
He had a mild expression, nothing that really showed anything. He sighed and said, "4 years and you still manage to kick everyone's ass.
I nodded.
"How?" He smiled and chuckled a bit.
I shrugged. "It's embedded on my soul I guess."
He crossed his arms. "Just like my dream and will of extermination."
I ignored that.
"Well, all in a days work." He brushed her shoulder.
I agreed with a nod.
He turned and was about to leave, but before her could, he said, "I still never got to master that kicking technique..."
I rose my head.
"Next test, you have to teach me." He managed to say with his older voice.
