After I came back from Jake's place last night, I couldn't stop thinking about his parents. It was obvious he was staying with his aunt and uncle. So then, where were his parents?

Emma would know about this right? She is Hannah's best friend. I got ready for school and walked downstairs.

"Hey Emms. This may be completely out of the blue but, where are Jake's parents?"

She stopped eating her cereal and gave me her undivided attention. "Addy, I want to tell you about it but it'll just be wrong because it's not about me. Jake will tell you about it on his own." I guess he will.

At school, Brooke came with a huge smile plastered on her face. "What's got you so happy?",Stacy questioned closing her locker.

"Peter asked me to be his girlfriend last night!" If it's possible, her smile grew wider.

"Oh my god!"
"Finally!" I know we sound like those girly girls and all,but this is a big thing. When Brooke's ex-boyfriend broke up with her she was a mess. Peter is amazing and we know it.

When the guys came we told them also and they were way more excited than us. "This is sooo good." "Yayyyy." "I knew he would ask you out. Wohoo." The guys also witnessed post break-up Brooke.

During lunch Jake said he wanted to take me somewhere after basketball practice. I'm nervous because he seemed pretty serious, but also excited.

So now, we are in his car, listening to some music and eating donuts.

He stopped the car in some secluded place and got out of the car. Is he gonna kill me? Or kidnap me? I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!

"Relax Addy. I didn't bring you here to kill you." He said smirking

I turned my head in his direction, trying to pay attention to where "How did you know I was thinking that. What are you, a psychic?"

"No, not a psychic. Just observant. You are fidgeting with the locket you have on, which means you are nervous." For some reason I got this warm feeling in me when he said that.

What? No! Not from Jake.

You like the fact he pays attention to you.

NO, I DON'T.

Mhmm. Sure you don't.

I was brought out of my thoughts my Jake covering my eyes. "What are you doing?"

"Addy breathe. I won't do anything wrong or hurt you. Just trust me." And I did. I trust Jake. Huh. Who knew right?

"Okay now open your eyes in 3..2..1." As soon as I opened my eyes, I was in complete awe. We were at a waterfall. It was so pretty.

"This is where I come when I want to escape from things." Jake said.

"It's really beautiful. I'm glad you brought me here." I said smiling at him.

He intertwined are hands, "Me too." Shut up butterflies!

We moved a little closer and sat down. "I know you have been wondering about my parents and why I live with my aunt and uncle right?"

"Jake you don't have to tell Me if you don't want to. It's okay. I unde-" he cut me off.

"Addison just let me talk, please?" I nodded, indicating for him to carry.

He took a deep breath and started. "Here it goes. Almost 7 years back, my mom had gone for some work to New York. The day she was coming back, the weather was not very pleasant. So, their plane crash-landed."

"Most people died but a few got away with some injuries only. You can call me selfish, but I always wish that it was my mother who got away with injuries and some other person had died."

"My dad loved her a lot. Everyone has their different ways of grieving. His was drinking. He came home drunk every night. He was a sad drunk. He would come home, sit in the living room and cry himself to sleep. Then he'd wake up in the morning, go for work, then the bar and that's how it went on."

"Until one night. He was drunk and was crossing the road. A truck, who's driver was drinking didn't see him and banged right into him."

A tear slipped down my cheek.

"My aunt and uncle couldn't have any kids due to some complications. So they took us in. They raised Hannah and me as their own."

He took a deep breath to calm himself down. "The worst thing about my mom's death was that just before take off I asked her if she got me the thing that I wanted, and she said that she was too busy to get me that, and that she was sorry. I told her 'I hate you' and hung up. If I had known that, that was my last conversation with her, I would've told her how much I loved her. How much I care for her. I just wanted to tell her that I don't care about the stupid gifts, I just wanted to see her and hug her." That was it. He broke down.

I instantly wrapped my arms around him and hugged him closer. He didn't pull away. He let it all out.

This guy has been through a lot and I've been nothing but mean to him. (Well he's also been really mean to me but, that's not the point). I thought that I had it difficult.

Jake opened up to me today and showed me who he really was. I'm glad about that.
