Somewhere in a world where Thazina was not, Villentretenmerth spoke.
"I'm afraid we have more. Go! I'll protect the egg. And the girl."
It was hard to miss the way Geralt looked at Thazina, lying there on the stone floor, chest heaving.
He gave a stiff nod before he and the others ran to finish the fight.
Yennefer was surprisingly good with her weapons; her dagger, and a sword taken from the body of one of the Reavers. She fought with all of the fierceness she had within her. She and Geralt made quick work of the Reavers outside.
Inside, Téa and Véa fought back any of the men that got inside. They stayed far from Thazina, making sure the unconscious mage was away from harm. They didn't see the injured Reaver, trying his luck, dragging himself across the cave floor toward the egg, straining with every movement but getting closer and closer.
Villentretenmerth saw, a deep roar leaving his throat. "It's not going to happen!" He breathed fire on the screaming man, killing him in an instant.
In the end, Yennefer did get to kill Boholt. She got to save Geralt's life in the process, as well.
Jaskier stumbled across a rather unusual scene for one who didn't know what had happened. Dead Reavers scattered the ground. Téa and Véa were alive, a sight that stunned him temporarily. Borch was alive. And Geralt was clutching onto an unconscious mage.
The dwarves were less than impressed by the fact that they'd missed what clearly was a good fight. Borch gifted them with dragon teeth in exchange for their silence on the matter.
Thazina swayed in Geralt's arms as she came to, eyes widening as she took in the final scene.
"I didn't do all that, did I?" she asked, looking up at him with furrowed eyebrows.
"No," he said, laughing despite himself. "No, but you helped."
"Oh," she said. "Is it over?"
"Yes."
She smiled weakly. "Good."
Geralt held onto her as they left the cave, sitting on the rocks, letting Borch speak.
"This is my final first," he announced. "A child. This treasure, this legacy must endure. There is no other reason to go on." He looked at Thazina, Geralt, and Yennefer. "Thank you for protecting it. And thank you, ladies. I can see why Geralt is struggling to choose."
