I tied up the shoelaces of my sneakers and walked by Taeyong's side. He wasn't familiar with this place so I guided him to the jetty I used to spend my childhood at.

Even it was just a jetty with no boats around, to me it has always been my special place. They put fairy lights along the way of the jetty, which made it more meaningful to some people.

"Thanks for earlier." Taeyong started the conversation first, breaking off this silence. He was thanking me for covering up for him, I guess.

"Not a big deal." Just after that short and simple sentences from me and him, we became silent. I knew that he found it awkward too, maybe because we used to mind our own business.

"Wait here, I'll go and buy drinks for us." As he told me to do so, I sat on the jetty with my legs left hanging. I was enjoying the night alone and my eyes caught a couple who were locking arms together with the girl's head leaning on the guy's shoulder.

"Have you heard about the group of bad guys, baby? I'm scared, they said that the guys will be conquering the stalls every night. Will it be okay for us to stay out at this hour?"

"I'm here for you, there's nothing to be afraid of. But if you want to go home now, I will send you back."

"I'm sorry to ruin our date, maybe it's the best for us to stay home at night."

They abruptly approached me before leaving the place. "Girl, don't stay out alone. It's not safe, haven't you watched the news?"

"Oh? I'm waiting for a friend. We'll leave after." I was stuttered, worrying if the news they were talking about is true.

It has been 20 minutes since they left and Taeyong hasn't come back yet. I stared at my hands, they were shaking badly and even sweaty. What if something happen to him? What if he happens to meet the bad guys they were talking about?

I dialed his number for several times and yet, he never pick up the call. Not even for once.

Holding tight my phone, I left the jetty and tried to look around in case he was lost. He wasn't familiar with this area after all. I checked every near stalls but I still couldn't find him. I was distressed, everything kept bothering my mind.

Did he really bump into the bad guys? My loose leg got me crouched down. I cried silently as I cover my face.

"Taeyong, where are you?!" Was just now the last time I got to see him?

"Hyeyoon, I'm here."

My head looking up to him, he was holding a plastic of drinks with his left hand hiding in his tracksuit's pocket.

I've always ended up in these kind of situation, crouching down and cried most of the time. And through out those bitter moments, he'll still comes to me.

When I was knocked down to my phobia in his house, he came with a candle.

"I heard you."

When I was at my weakest point, facing a sudden blackout at unfamiliar school with no one around anymore.

"I finally found you."

When I was drunk in a bar, he came to me and scolded the guy who got me drunked. He came without having me to call him first.

"Let's go home."

And now..

"Hyeyoon, I'm here."

Like a guardian protecting their important person, he kept appearing in front of me. So often that I no longer have to hide my sadness away.
