Sophie's heart skipped a beat as she touched Keefe's blazing wound.
No.
Keefe couldn't be dead. They needed to get help immediately.
But right now. She didn't even want to move.
"Sophie?!" somebody yelled.
Sophie snapped her head up and saw Granite stampeding towards her.
She hoped he would take care of this situation. Sophie couldn't think of any ways to move Keefe, and Elwin was at Fox -
Who knew if Elwin was even alive?
Though Sophie didn't want to follow the despairing path to hopelessness, it was hard to resist as Granite knelt down beside Keefe, and winced.
There had to be a way to heal Keefe. They had gotten through worse. But Sophie worried that this was one wound that they could not close.
Maybe it was because of the blood coating all of his face that he was almost unrecognizable.
Would his mind be the same? What if it would be damaged? Human minds were weak, so their mind would definitely be fractured into millions of pieces if they went through this. But even when elves had stronger minds, Sophie wasn't sure if Keefe could handle it.
Then more footsteps followed.
"Sophie?" Biana asked. Her face paled when she saw Keefe lifelessly lying on the ground. Then her eyes rotated to Sophie's blood-covered hands. "What happened -"
"We need to get him to Livvy," Granite interrupted. "Fitz, Dex, Tam, I'll give you a leaping crystal to one of our hideouts. Livvy should be there, working on serums. Biana, Linh, help Sophie to leap to -" he rummaged through a pocket. "Here. Go to Bronte's area." Granite passed a leaping crystal to one of Biana's shivering hands. Linh compiled, adding a nod. Then he handed another crystal to Dex.
Sophie cried out, unable to contain the agony bubbling up from her stomach. Granite turned to her, firmly taking her hands. He stared at the blood now coating his fingers.
"Sophie. We can get through this. Mr. Sencen has gotten through worse quarrels then this one. I am confident he shall fully recover."
The encouragement did make Sophie feel a little better. But it didn't erase the new guilt from arising.
Granite stared at her this time, sensing the change. "This is not your fault Sophie. You needed to get out of here, and someone you loved could have been in danger. He will understand. We all do. You didn't force Keefe to do what he did. This just proves your loyalty to each other."
Everybody nodded, including Sophie, but she couldn't help noticing that Fitz was grimacing slightly.
"Anyways, we need to get this troublemaker to the physician." Granite ordered.
As Tam asked a few clarifying questions to Granite, Biana and Linh helped her stand up. Fitz and Dex started to raise Keefe up into the air with telekinesis, and Tam hurried to join them.
For some strange reason, the harmony in the air made Sophie feel like everything was going to be okay.
