"There seriously has to be something," Biana complained. "I mean, maybe it's invisible!"
Sophie observed the cot where Keefe had been laid in, with confusion. They had all surrounded the mysterious cot in a circle, silently wondering what secrets it might contain. She wasn't distraught, just puzzled. The cot was identical as before and didn't look at all like it had been tampered with. So what could the clue be?
"You might be right." Sophie squinted at the white cot.
"I agree," Mr. Forkle said, waving an arm above the cot. "The Neverseen would surely know that leaving something that could harm their group would be foolish, so they would try to conceal it... With every action, there remains a remnant."
"So then how do we find out? I mean, how do we find a way to break the clue open?" Dex asked, crossing his arms.
"Doesn't the Neverseen use a lot of magisdan these days?" Fitz suggested, echoing Sophie's exact thoughts. Unless the Neverseen had come up with something new, they would probably use magisdan in this situation...
"Magisdan can be altered in a million different ways," Linh worried. "Wouldn't it be impossible to find out what the Nevereseen actually did?"
Everybody fell silent. The possibilities were endless, and Sophie was not excited to go through the complicated maze.
"Then perhaps we can piece their plan together..." Mr. Forkle decided. "We can't keep guessing, or we may just waste time. We all know that the Neverseen has been curious about Stellarlune, and Stellarlune contains light. Now I have a theory I've been thinking about before we even came here. And before you start yelling at me..." he eyed everybody. "I wasn't sure about this at all. But now I see there is no alternative. As much as I hate it, we must have to think without much evidence. Hopefully, our theory will be proven right though."
"Uh, so what's the theory?" Tam questioned.
"Maybe, light is affecting magisdan. Perhaps the Neverseen thought it would be clever to be inspired by Stellarlune, by using light. Tampering it with magisdan, as they tampered it with shadowflux."
There was a deep silence again. Sophie still didn't know how they would figure out the clue, she wasn't used to this. Yet, she knew she tended to have a consistency of figuring things out. Like she would now, as she thought of an idea. Manipulating light was what the Neverseen kind of was trying to do... It reminded her fairly of what some certain elves did. Vanishers.
"I think I have an idea." Sophie smiled.
