Sophie sat in Everglen's dining room, pondering how she would react to the rest of her friends. It worried her to the extent that she had to fight to keep her breakfast down and keep eating. She barely even tasted her meal, and everybody kept sending her worried glances. Especially Grady and Edaline. It made Sophie feel incredibly awkward as she was the first to clear her plate, wondering if she should get up or not. Would it be rude? A few years ago, she didn't care much about it, there were drama and havoc then, but with this crisis, it made her feel self-conscious of herself. She accidentally sighed, smacking her hand on the pristine table as she raised it up. Her face flushed vivid red.
"Sorry," she said, her hand instinctively rasing up to tug an eyelash.
"Don't worry, Sophie," Della shined a wide smile, that portrayed more than just forgiveness. "Happens more than you think." Sophie nodded, head down. Awkward sounds of eating and the occasional small talk filled her ears. Though her heartbeat thumped louder than those noises, soon cancelling them out. A series of questions she'd been trying to keep deep, deep in the back of her mind arose.
Would they support her decision?
What if she would fail?
Were they mad at her?
She tried to block the questions out of her mind as they started to grow.
The alicorns.
Keefe.
What was the Collective going to tell her about it?
A headache flared out, and she grabbed her head, shaking violently as urgent voices blurred around her. It felt like a burdening shadow growing heavier until it had released the tension. Dark colours fogged everything, making her lose a sense of direction. She felt vaguely someone carrying her, and laying her down on something.
Sophie clung her arms around herself, and curled up into a ball, sobbing, shaking hysterically. Stampeding icicles poked her brain and soon the questions she had tried to cover were no longer there.
Though soon the fit passed, as she saw a gentle blue wave surrounding the icicles and washing over it.
Though a question soon peeked out of the wave as she dozed off into obliviousness.
Was she ready for this?
