Chapter 25

"What are we doing here?" It was the first thing that Sophie said as she appeared in the beautiful scenery. The place was like a paradise, even for Elvin standards, with fields of vibrant grass, sparkly small ponds scattering the area. There were multiple exotic plants, some looking like a pastel rainbow, while some looked had the colour of the sea.

As she looked at her surroundings, she saw the whole Collective dozing on the grass, beside an especially shimmering pond, that was circled with gemstones.

Fitz and Dex looked as equally as entranced.

Sophie knew that the Elvin world had more than a few gorgeous places, but this was unreal! Though why had the Black Swan chosen this?

Suddenly, somebody shimmered out of the air beside them.

"Biana? Linh? Tam?" Dex offered a greeting, waving to them happily. None of them answered back, not much to Sophie's surprise. This place was breathtaking.

She took the time to absorb the views of the enchanting place, but as her eyes wandered to the Collective again, she stopped.

"Can you tell us why we're here?" Sophie asked, her spirits unnaturally high. They startled, waking up and fumbling to have a good composure.

Mr. Forkle looked lost for a second, as he stumbled up to stand and face Sophie. He motioned for them to come there, and Sophie stared quizzically at her friends. Why was the Collective so disoriented? To think about it, everybody was.

Fitz took the lead, jogging towards the Collective and everybody followed at half the pace.

Mr. Forkle scratched his head when everybody arrived.

"Right," he finally said, when everybody stared at him like he was crazy. "We're going to tell you what we are going to do now, and we'll get back in order. But first..." He glanced at the rest of the Collective, and they nodded back. "We needed to tell you our idea to save Oralie."
