Chapter 20: Changed

Few weeks later, both of us became busier than the usual. It's their finals for this sem and I'm also busy with school works. But we both know when to have time for each other. Now that we're in college, I understand that we have bigger responsibility and those who believe in us, have higher expectations.

But these past few days something feels off. I don't know why but he's been distant from me lately. Palaging wala, busy, may emergency. Kung tumatawag naman ako may ginagawa s'ya. I don't know anymore.

I don't want to demand time. Sino naman ako para sabihan s'ya? Wala namang kami. I don't wanna be a burden so I just let him be.

I woke up late, again.

I looked at my phone, it's almost lunchtime. Im actually waiting for him to call. Last night we only talked for an hour— Or should I say, I talked for about an hour. I didn't know he was already asleep. I was talking about school stuffs when I heard a soft snore from the other line. Nakatulogan na naman n'ya ako. I understand though, I know he's tired.

I sighed heavily at that thought.

Umaayos ako ng upo habang hinihintay na magising ang diwa ko. Inaantok pa ako eh. Sa bahay ako umuwi kagabi dahil late na ng makalabas ako sa vet clinic kasama si Oreo. At dahil tinamad ako umuwi ng condo dito ako natulog. Then I heard someone entered my room.

"Hi Cle!" It was Nate. I smiled sleepishly. "Ganda natin ngayon ah? Anong meron?" Aniya habang lumalapit sakin. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Di pwedeng 'goodmorning' muna?" 

"Goodmorning!" He said ang smiled widely.

"Morning" I tried to cheer myself up and smiled.

He look at me intently and shook his head. Nawala ang ngiti n'ya sakin, "Halika," He held my hand ang slighty pulled me up to stand. "Anong problema?" Tanong n'ya sakin.

"Problema? Wala noh!" I said defensively laughed a bit.

"'Wag kang plastic," He rolled his eyes.

My smile faded, I pursed my lips and looked at him. Gone with the fake smile. He sighed heavily and pulled me for a hug.

"Alam mo naman ayoko sa plastic diba?" He said and softly caresses my hair. I sighed and hugged him back then nodded as an answer.

"Uulitin ko, anong problema?" Tanong n'ya sakin. He then let go of me and looked at my eyes.

"It's just— It's about us, me and Gavin"

"Ano na naman ang problema n'yo?" His forehead creased.

"I just feel like it's not the same anymore," I shrugged.

"Anyare ba kase?"

"Wala naman. Parang may nag-iba lang— o baka ako lang?" I said, confused.

"Sinabihan mo na ba s'ya? Alam n'ya ba na ganyan ang nararamdaman mo?"

I shook my head, "Ayoko sabihin."

"Bakit?" Nalilito n'yang tanong.

"Paano kung wala lang pala? Alam ko naman maliit na bagay lang 'to," I answered.

"Ayan, maliit na bagay." He stated and raised his brows and scoffed. "Maliit na bagay lang ba talaga? Bakit apektado ka?"

Napaisip ako sa sinabi n'ya. Umiling lang ako sa kanya.

"Sa maliit na bagay nagsisimula lahat Cle." He said in a serious voice.

I sighed and looked at him.
