Doctor Sion came back a little while later, seemingly happier than earlier. As he walked over I shot him a puzzled look, confused as to why he was back for the second time today. My mind immediately came to the conclusion that something was wrong with my injury, eyes widening in horror at the thought. The doctor looked up at my face and chuckled lightly, which eased my nerves slightly.
"Don't be alarmed, there is nothing wrong with you," he laughed and I let out a long exhale. "I'm just here to pack up your things."
I gave him another confused glance. "What? Am I being released early?"
"Unfortunately no, a room opened up and I am moving you to it now." He smiled, but my face fell.
"Right," I tried to hide my disappointment. I was starting to enjoy having a roommate.
I glanced over at Kylo whose eyes were fixated on us, his expression was unreadable. Doctor Sion moved over to my various machines, beginning to unhook me from them. I looked the commander in the eyes and gave him a small smile.
Bye, thanks for not killing me when I was being annoying. Oh and enjoy the jello.
Kylo's gaze on me softened just a fraction before he turned his attention to the jello cup I gave him earlier, which remained untouched on his side table. My doctor unhooked the last machine, giving it a soft pat on the side to signal he was finished.
"She stays." A voice spoke out, quiet and demanding. This caused me and Doctor Sion to exchange bewildered glances before directing our attention towards the commander.
"Commander Ren?" Doctor Sion asked, not quite sure he heard him correctly.
"I said, she stays." He demanded, voice louder this time.
"But sir, you said before that y-"
"I know what I said, listen to what I am saying now, she is not leaving." Kylo's eyes burned holes into the doctors.
"Y-yes, of course commander." The doctor responded nervously before looking to me, obvious confusion and concern riddled his face. I gave him a quick nod to signal I was okay, to which he responded by reconnecting my machines.
"When can I start walking? I am fine with just doing a lap around the room." I asked, attempting to change the subject and alleviate the built up tension.
Finishing with the machines, Doctor Sion paused in thought. "I advise a couple more days before you can even stand, there is still a high risk your lung could collapse or stitches could come loose."
I sighed, not surprised with his response. My thoughts drifted to when I walked over to Kylo, but I decided to leave that information out. Doctor Sion cast me an empathetic smile, which I returned. He then proceeded to turn around, his attention now falling to the commander.
"Sir, if it is alright, I would like to check on your healing progress." He anxiously asked. Kylo held a glare before proceeding to lift up his shirt for the doctor to examine.
I took this time to finally process what Kylo had said, warmth filled my core at his words. She stays. The energy between me and the commander had shifted now, I was less uncomfortable being in his presence. Jello makes everything better.
My thoughts were disrupted by the doctors words. "Everything looks great, is there anything else you need commander?"
"Leave," Kylo ordered. Doctor Sion was quick to exit the room.
"So, you really don't like doctors?" I joked, trying to fill the air with empty conversation.
Kylo turned to look at me, his brows knit together. "No."
