I woke up alone, the bed beside me was done up without a single trace from the dark figure who occupied it. My heart sunk in my chest seeing him gone, without a word or single goodbye. The room now felt very empty, the sounds I had grown to ignore now prominently overtook the space.
I sat up, rubbing my eyes to see if I was dreaming. To my dismay everything was real, suddenly feeling lonely after having grown so accustomed to sharing a room.
I thought we were getting closer, but maybe that was all in my head. I frowned at the thought.
Doctor Sion walked in, his smile faltering at the sight of my face. "You okay?"
I nodded, plastering on a small grin. He narrowed his eyes and gave me a look before picking up my chart. I wanted to ask about Kylo but decided against it, deep down I knew he left.
"I have great news!" He beamed. "You have made excellent progress, I am wholly amazed at how fast you have healed, it's quite record breaking."
That made me smile. "Does that mean I get to leave too?"
He gave me a curious look, noting into the fact that I knew Kylo was gone, although decided not to say anything about it.
"Soon, I just need to do a final examination and then you will spend another night here undergoing light physical therapy." He noticed my face contort. "We are weeks ahead of schedule, one more night won't kill you."
I chuckled, sending him a look to say 'you never know'.
He proceeded to do a final examination of my wound, which was now just a scar. My flesh was no longer flaking and raw, instead there was a clean line mended together by the growth of new skin. It looked badass.
"Those stitches will fall out as your skin continues to heal so do not be alarmed. It looks like the ones near the end have already disappeared." He observed. Gross.
Doctor Sion re positioned his gaze back to my chart, scribbling down on it before turning to my machines. I watched eagerly as he turned them off one by one, removing the wires and patches that clung to me in the process.
"Alright, you are finally free from their grasp." He gave a small slap to the last machine. "I am officially done with your care, unless there is anything else you need?"
I shook my head, it felt amazing to hear him say that. "Doctor Sion, thank you so much for everything you've done for me, I am so going to miss you." I beamed.
He shot me his signature grin before patting me on the head for the last time.
"You were a great patient, good luck with the rest of your missions, hopefully you don't end up back here anytime soon."
"Don't worry, I am going to be extra careful." I let out a breathy laugh.
"Doctor Kesyk, your physical therapist, will be in later. Make sure to take it easy for the next week or so, doctors orders." He gave me a knowing look, one that doubted I would even consider taking it easy.
I sent him a final grin, and he left my room. The moment was bittersweet, I was stuck between feelings of sadness and excitement. Thank gods I am out of here soon, I have missed so much training.
Subconsciously I looked over to the empty bed beside me, frowning when I didn't see him. I guess I don't have to try and control my thoughts anymore.
Before I could continue to sulk, a wild figure ran into my room. Startled, I turned my head with a yelp before recognizing who it was.
"Mara! My stars, you scared me." I exclaimed, trying to steady my suddenly rapid heart rate.
