My palms were tightly clenched around the blaster in my arms as I waited in line, an endless row of white helmets overtook my front view. There were shouts in the distance, squadron leaders were calling names, one by one troopers were being directed into their designated spots.

I watched as another group marched their way into a carrier ship, the sight caused my heart rate to fluctuate, my group was next.

"Last team, squadron leader G-73 begin the loading protocol." A voice boomed from the intercom, the troopers in front of me shuffled slightly in anticipation.

Kriff, at least some people are excited. I mentally rolled my eyes, trying my best to ignore the fear creeping its way to my core.

I was in a daze as names were called out and my line moved forward slowly, each step I took sent small flurries of nerves up my body. Anymore steps and I was sure I would pass out.

"BY-2162." G-73 called out, checking my name off her data pad.

Thank the stars, I thought as my feet carried me into place. I walked forward and took my place at the end of the fourth row, head facing the massive metal carrier ship towering meters in front of me.

After hearing them call JN-1615 I relaxed slightly, although I was a little disappointing she wasn't near me this time. I focused on clearing my head of all interruptions, instead opting to listen to my steadied breathing in order to avoid a panic attack. Gods stop being so nervous, this is your job.

The room was suddenly washed over with a cold tension, loud footsteps made their way across the floor in our direction. My first thought went to the crystal around my neck, but before I could figure out why, a hand had sharply grasped my wrist.

Who the fu-?

I turned my head in the figures direction, opening my mouth to speak, but paused upon noticing it was the commander.

Wait for me when you land. A voice pierced my head, it felt as if it were my own thought, however the sound matched that of Kylo.

As quickly as he had grabbed me I was released, I watched confused as he took long strides all the way up onto his ship, not even giving me a second glance.

I shook out my body before standing back frozen in position, my head peered around slightly to see if anyone had noticed what just happened. Everything appeared to be normal, the last of the troopers were being called into position as the energy turned frantic.

I couldn't get his voice out of my head, repeating the words over and over as if I would forget them if not continuously a thought. That was strange, did he have something for me?  The idea didn't make sense, it would be right in the middle of a battle which was not the time for his gift giving.

A loud voice spoke out again, signaling it was time to load into the carrier. We all marched perfectly in sync up onto the ship, awaiting the closing doors.

Wait for me when you land. The ship was dark for a moment, before dimly illuminated by the overhead lights.

Kylo, why?  The ship jerked and buzzed, the ground became unsteady for a moment as it began to take off.

Wait? Wait where? My mind ran, his last words were the only thing I could think about. I analyzed ever part of that small sentence, trying to come up with a reasonable explanation.

Subconsciously, I knew it was my body's way of redirecting my fear, keeping my thoughts occupied did wonders for my body staying upright and breathing paced at a reasonable rate.
