Place: NorthStar Bridge, Timberest
Date: Nollaig 4th 5:21 pm"Can you tell how many there are?" West questioned Miri. She raised her left hand in a fist, quickly opening her fingers, placed it on the shield bubble, and closed her eyes. The bubble lit up and started to ripple with light waves and electricity
"There's twenty-four men, armed, closing in fast by the wood line." She reported.
"They are bad men, I can smell it on them, they are very bad men." Riku shuttered slightly, hiding his face in Miri's side.
She put her other arm around him, as he hid in her cape. All the while keeping a hand on the bubble, just in case she needed to further fortify it.
"It's ok little one, no one is going to hurt you I promise," Miri told him in a calm and reassuring voice as she patted his little back. "West come closer, I will teleport us back to the apartment, there's no need to engage these people." Waving again at him to come closer.
"Princesa if there's an armed group of men this large right outside the gates to Timberest we need to know why. If I don't stop them, they will attack some other innocent party.
A group like that is out for trouble. I want you to teleport to the guard tower with Riku and bring back some of Flynn's guardsmen. I will hold them off till then just leave me that shield bubble of yours ok." He turned at her and winked at her.
"Are you completely daft! I'm not leaving you here to fight all of those men by yourself." Miri scolded at him with a stern and somewhat shocked look on her face.
The sun was setting and the air was getting colder. She didn't think it was a prudent idea to enter into a fight against unidentified perpetrators as nighttime fell.
"And I'm not asking you to, I'm asking you to go for backup. Sure I can scare them off on my own but one of them might get away or go for help of their own. I want to bring them all in. Without risking hurting any of my pretty. That requires the shield" He pointed to his face with his sword. "For that, I will need more men to catch the runners."
"Or I can just freeze them," she shook her head.
"Nope, not putting you and the little guy in harm's way." West shook his head. "You go for help, I will hold them off. And that's my final word on the issue." Using his most princely tone he nodded with a sured smile on his face. Well, it was a smile until he saw the look on Miri's face, and immediately he had regrets.
Miri raised one eyebrow, tilted her head slightly to the left, and turned bright red. Her lips tighten, as she stared him down. Suddenly he was more worried about his safety inside that bubble than outside of it.
"No, no, no, I didn't mean it that way Princesa. I didn't mean it like that. I'm just trying to protect you and Riku". He came closer and reached out to put his hand on her shoulder. She pulled away.
"Who said I need you to protect me or Riku. I am perfectly capable of protecting him and I both." She glared at the Prince with such a look he was a little scared but at the same time wanted to giggle cause the fairy was quite cute when she was mad. Wisely he decided against the giggling.
Instead, he looked down so as not to be tempted. That's when West saw Riku scowling at him from behind Miri's cape. His cute little face wore such a pouty expression, the prince knew he was just as upset at him as his Princesa was.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have said it that way" he looked up at Miri. She couldn't stay mad at him.
"I'm teleporting us home" the fairy stated firmly. Reaching out to grab West there was a sudden flash of light. Something hit the bubble. Miri ducked down to protect Riku and West stood tall and returned a fire blast in the direction the flash came from. "Show yourselves." The young Bercelo yelled.
