Chapter 20

As they drove back home the air between them was tense, so tense you could cut it with a knife. Quinn or rather Axel drove as Luci sat in the passenger seat, curled up to her best ability, and staring out the window with a bewildered expression on her face.

"I'm sorry"

Were the first words exchanged between them after what happened, Luci furrowed her eyebrows with a small frown and looked at him "Quinn it's okay...We would've had to-"

"Axel"

"What- d-did you say?" she asked, wondering if she misheard him "Sweetness, I'm not Quinn. Do you think he could fuck you like that? Or tease you? I'm his wolf, Axel" he said seriously. 'What Quinn has a... I... Wait what..?' Luci thought, Axel noticed the look of shock on her face and sighed, shaking his head "I'm everything Quinn is not." Luci nodded along, listening to what he said but reaching over for the door handle, she flung open the door and tried to jump out, Axel pushed his foot on brakes as the car lurched forward and he lunged at her and grabbed her, pulling her back in. She let him as she felt tingles dancing across her body from his touch.

"Um... no" Was all Axel said as he closed the door and laid Luci's head on his lap as he got back in the driver's seat, she shivered and looked up at him, the realization hit her like a truckload and she gasped, prompting a look of confusion from him. "There's two of you..... Oh hell..." she muttered. Axel burst into a fit of laughter as he started driving once more.

"You're adorable, sweetness" Axel exclaimed between laughs and her face heated up "S-shut up" she pouted a little, and Axel smirked. "Never"

"What do you think about demons Quinn?" Luciano heard as she descended the stairs, pausing and poking her head out a bit, seeing her brother and her mate talking. "Demons? I lo- I hate them, they're greedy and just plain evil, amongst many other reasons." Axel went to reply but Quinn cut him off. "Not all of them are! Stop being speciesist!" Axel yelled at Quinn as Micah got a bit mad and winced, going unnoticed by Quinn but noticed by Luci as she also winced.

"I hate them"

Those three words played in her mind as she tried to think of reasons why. Surely, he wouldn't think of her like that if she were to tell him? That comment made her confidence flit from her body, pressing her hands against her legs she bit back a whimper as her heart hurt slightly. "Well.... I uh... Wow, why?" Micah asked, noticing Luci's presence and glancing at her, sympathy written on his face. "That's what everyone thinks. So it must be true." He stated simply as Luci walked down and went over to the two, Luci's heart hurt more "Stop it Quinn" Axel said to him, whom ignored him. Axel could feel the way his words affected Luciano and wanted him to stop.

"So demons are greedy and cocky? That's all you think of m- them? Why don't you get to know one and let that change your mind instead of being a little asshole!" She snapped then covered her mouth. Quinn looked at her wide eyed as he started to get heated, starting to glare at her as Luci's eyes widened "I'm sorry... I- I didn't mean to snap at you" she said.

"It's fine, fine...." He said, looking at her expression, his blank as here was slightly aggravated and hurt. "You just have different opinions, idiotic ones but different opinions nonetheless. I wouldn't expect much from a woman." He said as he then walked away and up the stairs with Axel screaming and shouting colorful words at him, telling him to go back and apologize.

The twins stood there shocked, it wasn't evident on their faces though. Luci's head hung low as she coiled her fists in anger "I don't think he'll accept me as a demon.... I-I" she reached her hands up and ran fingers through her hair before clutching and pulling at it, her breathing getting quicker and jagged as she started to cry from anger. Micah's eyes widened and he pulled his sister into a tight hug "Hey, hey. I'm sure he'll accept you, he loves you!" He exclaimed, his voice trembling with worry and slight aggravation. "I hope he doesn't leave her" He thought as that thought alone made him pissed, he cherished his family more than anything and if someone were to hurt one of them then he'd hurt that person. He rubbed her back and whispered soothing things in her ear until her crying stopped, his shirt was wet and stained with slightly red tears but he didn't care "Luci... Listen to me, whether he accepts you or not you'll always be you, you have me, Lyle, Tati, Noah and their mates here to help you." He said softly, Luci looked up at him, nodding and wiping her eyes and tear stained cheeks with her sleeve. "Y-yeah you're right. I'll be fine no matter what, thanks Mic" she murmured and hugged him tightly before pulling away. "Oh also one of us is gonna have to go home for awhile to do some work" he said and Luci cocked her head in slight confusion "The killing jobs?" She inquired and he nodded. "I'll go" she offered, knowing he didn't like blood.

She gave him a small smile, letting him know she was okay and made her way upstairs to her room, pausing at the door she looked at the floor and sucked in a deep breath before turning the knob and going in, closing the door behind her. Hearing the familiar sound of water hitting tile she knew Quinn was taking a shower, she padded towards the bed and took off her boots before crawling onto the bed and sighing. Her mind racing with everything negative, she closed her eyes as she rolled onto her back and pulled out her phone, scrolling through Instagram and looking at all the cute baby and doggo photos that was on the Discovery page.
