Potions class/Draco's POV:

"Everything happens for a reason."

"Shh, have you seen what happened to Granger?", a Slytherin girl whispered to Pansy.

"Yes, I saw the incident. It must be so embarrassing, especially because she's a prefect! But you can't deny she deserved it. That nasty mud-blood", Pansy chattered back.

"Yes, you are right. Oh look, she's coming!", the Slytherin warned.

In the next moment, Hermione arrived at our class and sat down at her desk heavily. Her skin colour turned red as soon as she saw all the students whispering. Then she sighed, gave all gossipers an angry look, and asked them raising her eyebrows: "Never got some juice spilled on your clothes or what?" Therefore she emphasized every word which made her sound angry even more.

The gossipers became silent and Hermione smiled pleased and looked at me for a short amount of time. So I gave her a slight smile back and looked into her eyes. We could have been lost in that wonderful and peaceful moment if Professor Slughorn didn't enter the classroom.

"Good morning, students!", he chanted.

"Morning", we chorused obviously tired.

Professor Slughorn checked his watch and asked: "It's already 9 o'clock, why are you so tired?" Nobody answered, so he continued: "We'll brew a cough potion today since it's getting colder. I don't want anyone to get a cold or anything, so the cough potion might become handy later. Turn your books to page 200 to get the instructions, find someone to partner up and get started! I expect the potions to turn out good."

And like it was a competition on who would partner up with anybody else than Hermione, everyone found a partner quickly. Ugh, Hermione is their prefect! Just because of the incident today?

                                                                                      -

I wanted to partner up with Hermione anyway since we haven't talked for a week, so I walked to her and gave my best to behave casually.

"Uhm Hermione, would you like to partner up with me?", I asked.

"Of course", she smirked. "Seems like nobody else would like to anyway."

Next, we picked up the ingredients for the potion and started brewing, or rather she started to. I can't deny that I couldn't focus on the potion, all I did was staring at the beauty of Hermione. She looked at me once or twice from the corner of her eye until she turned to me and barked: "Are you going to take part in brewing the potion? Or will you just keep staring at me like it's something special to get pumpkin juice spilled all over your clothes?"

Woah, I haven't seen this anger from her side coming. Confused about what I should do in order to comfort her, I grinned and complimented her: "To be honest, I wasn't staring at you because of the incident. Moreover, I was staring at you because of your beauty.

As a reaction, she blushed undoubtedly and tucked a strand of her brown hair back to her ponytail. Her blushing made us smile and we hold the intense eye contact once again. Although I was probably just hallucinating,  the temperature felt like it became hotter. She leaned closer to me when I was coming closer to her face just as a reflex. Her blushing and her smile really made me want to kiss her in the moment. Anyway, I realized we were in class, unfortunately. We couldn't kiss in class, everyone would know about us then.

"Uhm, Hermione, how can I help you brewing the potion?", I changed the subject and moved my face away from hers.

"What? Yes, you are right, sorry. Just put the ingredients into the cauldron and stir the liquid clockwise. But oh, never mind, I already did that. Guess we are done now", she babbled in a confused voice. Just like me, she expected us to kiss, I guess.

"Ah, I see. Granger and Malfoy, your potion turned out to be very good. The potion will be given to Madam Pomfrey, to help to cure the colds we teachers already expect. 10 points for Gryffindor and Slytherin each!", Professor Slughorn broke in.

                                                                                         -

"Hermione, don't forget our secret", I cautioned when we walked out of class.

"I didn't. Besides, you leaned closer first", she snapped back.

"Well, you are right. Shall we meet tomorrow to work on our project?"

"We should, in order to correct a few grammar mistakes in the essay we wrote. Maybe we didn't spot every single mistake yet." Finally smiling again, she walked away in the opposite direction as I did. To say 'goodbye' to each other, we held a short, but piercing eye contact. That would have been the perfect occasion to kiss her, wouldn't we be at school.

However, Astoria was already standing in the floorway at beckoned me to her.

"As your future wife, I forbid you to meet this girl", she affirmed.

"As your future husband, I'd like to get a 'Hello' whenever you see me", I acquiesced.

"Not funny."

"I'm your future husband. Don't I deserve a 'Hello'? ", I shrugged.

"Ugh, shut your mouth. And stop grinning at me like that. Don't think I don't catch you staring at her. I don't get what you see in her, we are engaged! In addition, she's a mud-blood. A filthy mud-blood!", she responded and made a look like Hermione would make her sick.

"Which doesn't make her less lovable ", I said under my breath. I'll always love Hermione, my first and last crush.
