The day after/Hermione's POV:

"Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day"

Hearing the birds twittering outside, I opened my eyes after a long, uncalm sleep.  I dreamed that I was attacked by several people. And when I woke up I wasn't waking up from where I expected, in fact, I was realizing I've been sleeping on a plain sheeted, uncomfy bed which didn't look like mine at all.

"Huh? Where am I?", I asked myself while I moved the greyish cushions out of the way.

"Good morning, Ms Granger. Here's your breakfast", a middle-aged woman appeared from a wooden door and reached me a big plate, loaded with pumpkin tarts and some fruit. "I have been treating you with the necessary medicine and charms already, so you are basically healed again. But we, the St Mungo's staff, will keep you here for another fortnight, just to make sure your healing process goes well. You've been cursed for uncountable times yesterday-"

"What happened to me? And why am I at St Mungo's anyway? Who are you?", I yelled at her and rolled up myself in the hard blanket on my bed. This didn't make any sense at all, at least for me.

"Ms Granger, you've been cursed for uncountable times yesterday. From an unforgivable charm to Obliviate, you had them all. An anonym person brought you to us this morning. Around 2 o'clock I say. And now it's time for you to eat something", she said calmly.

"But what about my N.E.W.T.S? I'd be taking the exams next week!, I rejected the plate.

The nurse's face turned red and she said: "Ms Granger, your exams can wait! Besides, we have another Hogwarts student here, you can study together if you need to!"

"Yes, I need to! Where is the student? When can we start?"

"I'll get him in a second. Now eat your breakfast", the nurse approached the plate to me again.

After I ate two bits of my breakfast, I stared at the wooden door of the nursing room for ages, just to wait for the student's arrival. To be honest, I didn't have any clue on who he was. Nonetheless, I'll make him my study-buddy.

Knock. Knock. Someone knocked on the door heavily. I grabbed my wand from the cupboard next to me and whispered: 'Alohomora'. The door opened by itself and a familiar, skinny body with blonde hair appeared from beyond the door, Draco. As he came closer to my bed, I caught myself smiling at him. Draco's face looked paler than ever; no wonder he's at St Mungo's. But why was he at all?

As soon as he sat down next to my bed, he lowered his head and looked away. Occasionally, I looked at his shiny eyes, hoping them to meet mine. Nonetheless, they didn't. Draco was definitely avoiding eye-contact on purpose and just sitting on my bed, his hands resting on his trousered lap.

"Draco?", I approached him. "What's the matter? Why are you looking away?"

While I was about to ask him a few more questions, Draco rubbed his redded head slightly and gave me a short look. Then he sighed loudly and just hugged me. He hugged me so tight that I was breathing hard. When his grip loosened, he leant forward for a kiss, I guess. Though I had the desire to kiss him, I couldn't. It felt wrong to kiss Astoria's fiancè now that she has told me about her feelings.

"Draco, no", I pushed his head away. "You can't just come here and act as nothing happened. Astoria-"

"For Merlin's sake, you are on first-name-basis now?", he asked, crinkling his nose.

"Indeed", I affirmed confidently.

"Okay listen: Astoria's parents decided to change the date of the marriage", Draco drew a long breath. Shortly after his eyes met mine and we stared at each other for a couple of moments.

"To when?", I broke in and padded his shoulder slightly.

"Right after my N.E.W.T.s, during spring break. You are invited, you know?", he sighed.

"So you are choosing her over me. After all the drama we have been through?", I blinked my tears away. "I've seen that coming, to be honest with you."

"Mione, that's incorrect. I tried bloody everything to cancel the wedding, trust me. We can either make the best of the last fortnight we'll be spending together, or I can demand to move from St Mungos to another hospital. It's up to you", he curled up on my bed with an expression of frustration.

He's right, we should make the best of the time we have. Even though it'll be hard to ignore Astoria, it's the right thing to do.

I cleared my throat and hung my head. Then I touched his messy hair and began: "Draco Lucius Malfoy, we'll have the best time ever. We'll spend every single moment here at St Mungo's together, and we'll study for our N.E.W.T.s. I don't want to fail them, nor I want you to fail them."

"That's why I love you, Hermione Jean Granger", his lips curled to a weak smile.

And with that, we leaned forward to a long, passionate kiss which woke up all the sleeping butterflies in my belly. Indeed, the kiss made me forget how unfortunate our entire love story was. Maybe our love story isn't perfect, yet we'll end it in the best way possible. To get some air again, I moved Draco's cold hands from my neck to my lap. The next moments were existing of calm silence.

"Granger, ready to break some rules?", he whispered in my ear maliciously. "I've discovered a way to sneak out of this ridiculous hospital."
