I opened my eyes and looked at my left. They were crying while holding my hand. It was mark

Vanessa: p-please...don't take...my s-sunshine...away

I continued hoping for mark to look at me

He lifted his head and looked at me. Standing up and running out of the room to call the doctors.

Mark came back to me and held my hand. I wiped the tears of his cheeks.

Vanessa: mark, what happened?

Mark: you got shot in the head three months ago

Vanessa: how am I alive?

Mark: you got shot in the head not brain he chuckled

Vanessa: oh...

The doctor entered the room and checked on me. He left after saying some doctor things that I did not understand.

Vanessa: what did he say?

Mark: in simple terms you can leave after a week or so.

Vanessa: wait how did I get here?

mark: don't you remember?

Flashback

I read the text message. Should I go? Mark took my phone and read through the messages and looked at me.

Mark: why didn't you tell me about this?

I couldn't see light from his eyes. Is he that mad?

Vanessa: I d-did not think they were serious at first. And I got a bit scared.

His eyes softened.

Mark: you should have told me.

Vanessa: I'm going, I don't want things to be way far worse than they already are.

Mark: okay But I'll go with you

Vanessa: no, you can't. listen I will go, and you can follow me. as soon as I enter the building stay outside and call the police after 5 minutes.

Mark: okay stay safe

Mark kissed my forehead and looked at me and continued: I don't want to lose you

Vanessa: oh right

I smiled at him and he smiled back. I could still see the puffiness in his eyes

Vanessa: were you scared?

Mark stood up and hugged me tightly

Mark: don't leave me alone again

Vanessa: I did not leave you if I had I won't be sitting Infront of you right now

Mark let go of the hug and looked at me he laughed while I pouted.

Vanessa: what's so funny

Mark pinched my cheek and said: you are so cute!

Vanessa: you won't leave me right?

Mark shook his head: never

Vanessa: everyone says that and leaves at the end

Mark held my cheeks and looked at me.

Mark: you might be clueless, but whenever l see you, I feel the need to protect you. You always want the best for others, but you don't even realize that yourself. You've put your self in danger to save me and everyone around you, although most of them probably wouldn't have done the same. I don't know from when it exactly started but I felt happy and weird when I was around you. I don't know what it is, but I want to protect you for my whole life. I want to make sure that as long as I'm around you can be safe.

Will you allow me to be the shield of your happiness and be there for you whenever you need me?

Will you let me be the light when there is only dark to see?

I looked at mark with teary eyes and nodded my head.

I fell asleep in his warm arms that were home to me.
