Prompt #13 from honeyboychangbin "Sentence Starters" post on Tumblr
Working at the movie theater was not something that you hoped to do. Not only was it disgusting, finding popcorn kernels that have been left in the corner of the building for who knows how long, but it was exhausting. Even through summer, you had to unwillingly interact with many people from your school, even the ones that didn't exactly like you. There were times where classmates would try to make your work a living hell, spilling drinks purposely and even spilling buttered popcorn over your head. Then there were times where they would be just as awkward as you, avoiding eye contact and ready to sprint into the theater room.
The losers were some of these people. Most of them tried to avoid you, staying several feet away from you as they skipped the concessions. Then, there was Richie Tozier. He was known for his trashmouth and bold personality. He was the only one that had the balls to actually interact with you.
As the rest of the losers went to get seats for the movie, Richie made his way to the concessions, seeming as motivated as ever. When you looked up, you weren't too surprised to see Richie in front of you, eyes scanning over the rack of candy that sat on the counter.
"Can I get anything for you?" You questioned, making Richie's head shoot up to look at you.
"Oh, A large popcorn please?"
You resisted the urge to raise your eyebrow, a bit surprised by his manners. Instead, you just nodded your head and turned to the popcorn machine behind you.
"So," Richie trailed off, "You come here often?"
As much as you wanted to start laughing, you knew that if you were caught laughing at a customer, you could get fired. Instead, you limited yourself to smiling and shaking your head at the teenage boy. "Well, I work here. So I think I'd have to say 'yes'."
When you turned around, Richie's face was slightly pink.
"That will be $2."
Richie stood frozen in front of you until you cleared your throat. Scrambling to find the change in his pocket, some arcade coins fell out of his pocket when he pulled out two dollar bills. Face bright red, Richie handed you the dollars before scooping up the arcade coins from the ground and grabbing the popcorn from the counter. Before you could say anything else, Richie was rushing to the auditorium.
"Enjoy the movie!"
