A/N: so i got this idea from a prompt generator. i hope you like it!
It was close to the end of English class and Stanley still couldn't tear his eyes from you. The entire class period he tried to focus on the teacher, taking a few notes about the book they were discussing but his eyes always seemed to land back on you. It's like you were a magnet and it took a lot of force for him to focus on something else.
Stanley's crush on you was not well hidden. Besides the obvious staring, he was easily flustered around you which contradicted his normally calm demeanor. He found himself thinking about you every time he was going to do something. Going to get a drink? I wonder if (Y/n) wants one. Going to the quarry? I wonder what bathing suit they're going to wear. Thinking about (Y/n)? I wonder if they're thinking about me. It didn't matter if he wanted it or not, his mind was filled with you.
Richie covered his small smirk with his hand, knowing that the teacher was known to call him out for making faces. He couldn't help it though. His friend was sitting next to him making googly eyes at their crush like they were the only beautiful person that existed in the world. Richie should have been used to it by now but something about seeing his normally studious friend fumble with taking notes because he was distracted by you made him want to laugh his head off.
Richie inched closer to Stanley, leaning forward on the desk to try and make himself less obvious. Once he was close enough and he saw the teacher focus her attention on the chalkboard opposite of them, Richie turned his head to whisper in Stanley's ear. "Why are you so thirsty?"
Stanley sputtered, Richie's comment ripping him out of his trance. His calm demeanor was quickly overcome with anxiety as his eyes shot around the room to see if anyone noticed him. Luckily, no one was paying attention and the teacher was still writing on the chalkboard. Richie quickly covered his mouth with both hands, trying to keep his laughter from boiling up.. Seeing one of his best friends so confused and worried after being caught staring at his crush was somehow amusing.
Stanley rolled his eyes and leaned back in his seat, catching onto his friend's blatant enjoyment at seeing him so flustered. "Shut up," He grumbled at the loudmouth, eyes squinting to give Richie a sharp glare.
Richie just responded with more giggles, his hand beginning to poke Stanley's side teasingly. "Sorry, Stanley, but you looked like you needed to be brought back to Earth. Something about (Y/n) sent you to outer space-"
"Beep beep Richie!" Stanley harshly whispered, his eyes wide at how loud Richie's voice sounded. He definitely did not want you to realize how much he was staring at you, even if you could feel his eyes drilling holes in the back of your head.
"Excuse me, is there something you want to share with the class?"
The authoritative voice sent chills down both the boys' spines. Stanley felt his blood turning to ice as he looked up, mortified of being caught talking during a lesson. Richie was more nonchalant, having got used to being caught several times before. "No ma'am," Richie replied, a smile growing on his face.
The teacher did not look amused, putting her hand on her hip and letting the silence of the class sink in for a few seconds. "This is your first warning. If I catch you to talking again, you're going to spend time in detention."
Richie nodded, curling his hand into a thumbs up while Stanley sat next to him frozen in fear. Richie chuckled quietly so the teacher wouldn't hear before leaning towards Stanley again and whispering into his ear, "Sorry space cadet. Maybe next time you shouldn't stare so blatantly."
