You held Eddie in a vice-like grip, afraid that if you go, he would slip away in front of your eyes. Eddie didn't seem to mind, his own grip on your shirt was just as strong. It had only been a day since the losers defeated the ugly shapeshifting clown and the effect was just as bad as if the thing was still alive. You were terrified that IT would somehow show back up in your room and rip Eddie away from you. Eddie knew that the thing was dead but he still couldn't stop the thoughts about the clown from filling his head. All he could think about was it's stupid face and it's stupid teeth. However, being in your arms somehow made the thoughts fade away. His mind stopped thinking about the monster and focused on you. Your grip grounded him and helped him calm down for once. Being in your embrace made him feel safe.

"T-This might be a bit weird to say right now but you make me feel free."

You shifted your head away from his neck to look at him, expecting for Eddie to start laughing and saying it was a joke. However, his eyes were unmoving and he didn't make any move to laugh. He was as serious as he could be.

You immediately shoved your head back into his neck, attempting to hide your embarrassed face. "I'm going to hit you."

"What?" Eddie yelped, jerking away slightly to move his cast away from you. "I'm already injured!"

You poured but still kept your tight grip, keeping him close to you. "Fine, but once you get that cast off, it's free game."

Eddie rolled his eyes and mumbled a "yeah, yeah, sure," against your shirt before closing his eyes and letting himself relax onto you. You couldn't help yourself from smiling at the boy, your heart swelling when you felt himself melt into your embrace. He trusts you. He can be vulnerable around you.

"Eddie," You said quietly, earning a soft hum from him, "I just wanted to say you're the first person who has understood me."

Eddie's eyebrows furrowed, wondering what in the world you meant but he didn't make a move to look at you. Instead of moving from his comfortable position, he tapped your side, signaling for you to keep talking.

"I mean," You took a breath, "You're the only one that knew how I felt whenever that thing was here. I tried to act like it didn't affect me, like the thing never could scare me but it terrified me." You started to comb your fingers through his hair to calm yourself down. "You were the only one that confronted me about it. You were the only one that helped me through it and comforted me." You smiled down at him and placed a kiss on the top of his head. "Thank you, Eds."

Eddie felt his whole body heat up at your confession. He was breathless, not able to comprehend how he impacted your life in such a way. The more he thought about it, the more his heart grew. He loved you and he knew that you loved him back.

"Of course," Eddie cuddled into you, "Anything for you."
