Chapter 43: 1st Date

Josh: *I drive back to East High*
Olivia: Why are we back here?
Josh: You've been asking questions this whole ride, will you stop already? *laughs*
Olivia: But I just want to know- Fine. I'll stop.
Josh: *we get out of car and I grab my backpack and I take you to the roof*
Olivia: Why are we up here? Are we even allowed to be-
Josh: Was that another question missy?
Olivia: Nope... no... it wasn't. Pretend I said nothing.
Josh: mmm that's what I thought *I go into my backpack and take out 10 flashlights. I turn them on and set them up around the roof. I take out a speaker and pair my phone to it. I grab your hand and walk you to the center of where all the flashlights are pointing. I let go of your hand and step back a few steps and take a deep breath*
Olivia: *Oh my god what is this boy doing*
Josh: Olivia, just a few weeks ago, I thought I'd never find the perfect girl. I'd write songs about how they'd leave me and I'd miss them or how I'd be there for them but they would leave. I've always struggled with relationships and anything that had to do with them. Even if they lasted awhile, they didn't feel fulfilled or like something was missing. Then I met you at that audition and something finally clicked. I was still with my ex at the time and of course I wasn't going to do anything. She eventually called things off and I was devistated. A few months later I get to Salt Lake and get a text from you asking me to be your chauffeur. *laughs*
It was at that moment I realized there was something special between us. I couldn't get the thought of our audition out of my head. Then Ethan broke you heart, and I was once again devistated. I almost felt your pain so I wanted to be there for you though it all. Then I relized that special connection could be something else. Something more than a friend... or even a best friend so I kissed you. I kissed you under all those lights *I gesture to all the flashlights*. And it felt perfect. I felt whole again. Even when you said you weren't fully ready, I felt fulfilled. I knew that if something were to happen it would be for the best. Then almost instantly it's like my prayers were answered, you told me how you felt about me and everything. I felt and still do feel like the luckiest guy to be alive.
I thought there was no way I'd ever meet a girl like you, but it was almost like catching lightning, the chances that I found someone like you. You are the most talented, sweetest, and most beautiful girl I've ever met. You never seize to make me smile. I just want this moment to last forever. For it not to be "just a moment" anymore. I'm so grateful that you came into my life and I wanted you to know how much you mean to me.
So I ask you right now, Olivia Rodrigo, can I have this dance *I press play on my phone and put my hand out*
Olivia: *I'm all teard up and I grab your hand*
