Chapter 22

Author's POV

Xiao Zhan was busy with his investigation for the last two days as he didn't get time to meet Wang Yibo in person. Even if they talked through messages and sometimes call, he could not feel but miss his grumpy cat. Today is Thursday and Xiao Zhan was preparing to go to his station to brief his senior about his investigation so far. The crimes of the Devils actually increasing in the city and all of his colleagues are busy in dealing with that. Xiao Zhan is also exhausted by his work. Two times during his investigation, he also got attacked by the gang members, which he survived miraculously.

One day he was observing the place near the warehouse of the Devils, he ran into some gang members. They asked him for his identification when he hesitated, he started attacking him. Xiao Zhan is a well trained detective, but that time he didn't had his gun with him. He tried his best to fend them with hand to hand combats. There were 7 gang members and finally knowing he cant win this fight he decided to fled the scene. The gang members also followed him. Zhan was wearing a mask so that the people wont recognise him. As he was running for his life, he understood that he no longer heard the rushing footsteps behind him. He halted on his steps to hide behind a dumpster. After catching his breath, he looked back to his surprise, there was no one behind.

"How is this possible? I am sure I couldn't possibly outrun them..." he mumbled. He suddenly heard a loud noise. he decide to check and he was also conscious that he didn't want those people to find him. When he reached a dimly lighted ally, he saw some people laying there unconscious. He recognised one of them. They were the people who tried to attack and chase him. He immediately called for back up and locked them up.

Xiao zhan reached the station in his usual charming self. He met with Li Bowen who immediately asked him to go to the interrogation room. During the walk towards the interrogation room, Zhan asked Li Bowen.

"Anyone spoke?"

"Not yet...Most of them are really injured and one person was less injured as he lost his consciousness with the very first blow. I have taken him to the interrogation room."

"Mm"

"May be we can get any information about the devils or about your guardian angel?"

Zhan halt on his steps and looked towards Bowen Wide eyed.. "What guardian angel...?"

"Oh you don't know...here everyone really thinks you got a guardian angel who saves you from all the dangers like yesterday. If these people got your hands on you, you wold be dead by then. Those are most wanted criminals and they are extremely ruthless."

"I don't know what you are talking about... how can I have a guardian angel.. that's just absurd. May be its just a coincidence.." Zhan said even though he was beyond surprised.

They reached the interrogation room. FanXing and Pei Xin was already present in that room. they greeted Xiao Zhan and Li Bowen. They greeted back.

"Got his identity?" Xiao Zhan asked in a serious tone which is actually foreign for the juniors.

" He is XiaoMi, he is one of the most wanted criminals. There are so many cases like robbery, drug sale, murder etc registered on his name."

"Oh finally, we were able to dug these rats out of their holes.." Li Bowen said crossing his hands on his chest.

"Okay.. Xing... I guess now we will take care of the interrogation.. you guys can go..." Xiao Zhan said signalling the juniors to leave the room.

Both of them, moved towards the table and chair which are placed in the middle of that room. On one side, XiaoMi was sitting and his hands were locked using handcuffs. Xiao Zhan took the chair which is placed in the opposite side of the table and Li Bowen decided to sit on the table.
