Chapter 34

Author's POV

Xiao Zhan was sitting on his couch sipping his coffee while watching some shows in the TV. He doesn't know what is the show is about because he is not even concentrated on that. He startled when he heard a knock on his door. He got up lazily after putting his coffee mug on the side table and then opened the door. His eyes widened seeing the person standing infront of him.

"Wang Yibo.." he said.

Wang Yibo stood there his head hung low. He was having a hard time facing Xiao Zhan. Xiao Zhan came near him and again called him.

"Yibo..."

Wang Yibo finally lift his head to meet the gaze of Xiao Zhan after an audible sigh. They kept the eye contact, but no one initiated the further conversation. Yibo was having a world war III in his mind. All the cells in his body told him to run away once again, but his stubborn heart was the only thing giving him courage to stand there infront of Xiao Zhan. When he went off the grid, he was having an internal struggle about what to do. Yibo always had a goal and a purpose to live, his brother Seungyoun. He promised his adoptive father that he will take care of him. For him and his safety, Yibo went through hell and still he was standing ready to face any hell fire without an ounce of fear. He never thought that he will become involved with Zhan. After meeting Zhan, Yibo promised to himself that he will keep him safe. As seungyoun dead on his watch, he was highly terrified for Xiao Zhan. If he stayed beside Xiao Zhan, he will die for sure. So initially Wang Yibo thought about not coming back ever again. That way may be Xiao Zhan will hate him for the rest of his life and he will be safe. For a while he convinced himself that it is the better way and the only solution for his dilemma. But still here he is, standing infront of Zhan's apartment staring at the dark orbs where he can find the pain and concern for him. The sight himself shattered his heart.

Now Yibo is here with a decision of confessing everything to Xiao Zhan. He knew the risk he was taking. Xiao Zhan is a detective and he is a criminal. When he knows the truth may be he will hate him or arrest him or worse kill him. But he was ready. Yibo was mentally prepared for any kind of outcome. He was tired, tired with this life. When humans become tired with life, they only need the ultimate peace, which is death. And Yibo was ready to embrace the other side. May be that way he can pay for his sins. If his death is by the hands of Officer Sean Xiao Zhan, then it won't be a waste. He will feel contented.

Wang Yibo also knows that he was hopelessly in love with Zhan but he need to leave him to protect him. This is the only way. He first thought about leaving without expressing his love. But he knows better. If he does that then Zhan will blame himself more than he blame Yibo. He can see the fact that like him his Zhan ge like him very much. Even if he wont dare to name the feelings between them as LOVE, he knew that Xiao Zhan cared for him a lot. The concerned eyes that is gazing at him at the moment is the clear cut evidence of his deduction. If he didn't express his feelings truly, they Xiao Zhan will feel betrayed. He will blame himself for letting jim fall for Yibo. Zhan needs to know that Yibo's felings for him was never a lie. It was pure as the smile of a child. Zhan needs to know, Yibo wasn't toying with his feelings. He needs to know, his love was not an unrequited one.

"Yibo.. tell him your feelings, don't hold back. He needs to know that his feelings were not just his imagination. If he feels that you don't love him at all, it will break him more than anything else. even the fact that you hid your identity can't even create that much damage.

Yibo took a deep breath and after mustering up all the courage he spoke.

"Zhan ge... Can we have dinner together outside. I have something to tell you..."

"Ah..?" Zhan blurted out with a shocked face. He was expecting a different knid of reaction, which involves hugging. But the latter stood there as a statue. Zhan looked at Yibo, the usual aloof face is no longer present there. He can see the pain, helplessness and hint of hope in Yibo's eyes. Xiao Zhan have hundreds of questions to ask Yibo, he wanted to scold him for disappearing so suddenly. He wanted to complain and get angry on him for worrying him. He wanted to pull the young lad into his arms and kiss him till he become breathless. His hands were etching to took the younger one in his arms. But he decided against it. He can see the seriousness in the tone of Yibo. He can clearly see the internal turmoil of him. Whatever Yibo is going to tell him over the dinner is important and he can see that he mustered up so much courage for doing this. This was a new side of Yibo, that Zhan didn't even see in his lifetime.
