Steve's POV
I was standing around, watching as the scientists walked around typing on the computers and moving tools around. The other guards were out of the room checking around the facility, as I stood in the main part as a bodyguard to the scientists. "Captain." I turned my head to face one of them, "Can you do me a favor and bring in a clear tarp from the storage room?" I nodded and made my way down. I stopped walking when I felt a pain in my head. Holding it, I quietly yelped out in pain and fell to the ground. "Don't do this! This isn't right!" I heard a voice yell, I looked around trying to find the owner but no one was around.
Getting up I went back on my task, when I retrieved the tarp from the closet I was about to walk out but someone closed the door on me. Sighing, I tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge, I knocked on the door to see if someone would open it but nothing happened. Annoyed I banged twice, "Whoever did this open the door or it will be wedged in between your eyes!" I yelled. Someone on the other side laughed at that remark. "Open the door NOW!" The person on the other side opened the door just a tad hoping I wouldn't notice but I did. I grabbed the handle and yanked it open, pulling the person in with it. "Mrs. Popov." She stood up, brushing the dust off of her jacket before backing up a bit away from me. "Captain. Sir I am sorry to scare you, I thought you were Mr. Turner. He is usually the one to retrieve items for us." I tried my best not to snap at her since she is correct.
I picked the tarp back up and walked past her, "Don't do that again because I do keep my word, if you didn't open it, part of the door would be in between your eyes." She ran up to me so she could talk, "Sorry sir, but I just wanted to have a bit of fun." I heard something fall in the room next to me, I handed her the tarp and walked over. "Sir?" She was about to follow me but I held my hand up to stop her, "Go back to the main room. I'll meet you there." She nodded and hurried on her way.
I reached the door but didn't open it, wanting to make sure I wasn't going crazy I listened for something else to drop. "You really think he heard that?" "Well it was a shot. If he didn't then we have to find him...again..." The voices sounded like they belonged to a male and female. I placed my hand on the handle and slowly opened it. The people inside fell silent, my guess is that they are hiding. I made my way in when the door slammed shut me behind me...again...I turned around to see who closed the door and to my surprise, it was the Winter Soldier. "Hello Captain. It is nice to see you again." He walked a bit away from the door and I could see that his hands, shirt, jeans and boots were covered in blood.
I was about to reach for my gun on my thigh holster but someone got to it before I could. Before I turned around to see who it was she walked in front of me. "Steve, this isn't you. You are not this person." She said. "Natasha?" The voice in my head said, I whipped my head to the right to silence it. Winter moved closer to me causing me to retreat, "Steve, please listen to Natasha. This is not you, Hydra is in your head." I growled at him. "That hell are you talking about?" I snapped. Winter just stood there, "Steve please. We don't want to hurt you. Please come with us." He held his hand out to me. I slowly reached out and held it and smiled at him, he smiled back.
I gripped his hand harder causing him to fall a bit, "Did you really think I would do that?" I bent his arm backwards and he yelped out. Natasha held her gun, correction, MY gun up to me. "Let him go" She growled. I looked over to Winter and saw he was in distress, how nice. I made eye contact with Natasha before I threw Winter across the room. She fired the gun but was quick enough to run over and pull the gun from her hand before she fired again. I aimed the gun to her head but decided not to kill her, so I shot her leg instead, a cry filled the room as she fell to the ground. I turned my attention back to Winter as he slowly stood back up, I pulled a knife from my pocket and he did the same.
"Steve please. I don't want to hurt you." I smiled, "That makes it easier for me then." I ran over to him and sliced his flesh arm then his back. Blood ran down from the wounds, he ran forward to get away before turning back around to face me. Natasha hobbled her way over to him as well, she had her own gun as well and was pointing towards me. I just straightened my posture and looked at her, "Drop your gun, you are not going to hurt me." She put it back into her holster. Winter gripped his knife a little more, "You are not leaving this place Steve."
I growled, "I am not Steve!" I lunged towards him, knocking Natasha away as well and embedded my knife into his right shoulder. He yelped out as his head hit the floor, knocking him out, blood spilling from his shoulder staging the floor below him. Natasha shot my leg before walking over and hitting me over the head with the gun. I gripped my head and groaned out in pain before my vision went black and I fell to the ground.
*Time Skip*
I groaned as I tried to move into a sitting position, my legs felt heavy along with my arms, so it was harder to get up. I finally sat up and looked around the room I was in, the walls were white, there was a mirror which I am guessing is one way glass, two doors, one was opened while the other was closed. I looked to my right and saw a wheelchair next to the bed I woke up on, confused I moved it a bit to see if there was anything on it. I found a letter sitting on it,
"Hey Steve, you might not even know that name right now but trust me you will. Your leg is still healing so we gave you the wheelchair to get around the room. Some of us wanted to give you crutches but you would have used them as weapons. We do hope you cooperate with us because we don't want to hurt you again. We do promise to get you back. Your Team ~The Avengers"
I placed the letter on the bed. "Listen to them! Snap out of this!" The voice is back and it was screaming at me. I held my head as I slowly shook it to silence it. "Quite..." I quietly said. I started to hear this ringing that was coming from somewhere in the room. It grew louder the longer it went on, I placed my hands on my ears to muffle it but it kept growing louder. "Stop!" I half yelled, but the ringing grew louder and louder. "STOP!" I screamed. The ringing went quiet and my head went fuzzy. I looked up to see the mirror turn into a window, I saw three silhouettes on the other side. "You alright?" I recognize the voice right away, "T-Tony?" The screen went clear so I could see who they were, standing on the other side was Tony, Natasha, and Bucky. "Steve, is that you?" Tony questioned.
I nodded my head before getting up. Pain shot up through my leg and I fell back down on the bed. "Steve, I don't trust you and I think you will understand that but please don't stand up. Your leg was shot so, stay down." I listened to Tony and pulled the wheelchair over, "What...what did I do?" Everyone fell silent for a second, "Well you didn't do much. Tony was beat up and bruised, Nat got shot and I got stabbed. That was about it, they don't have your blood so that is good but they do have your mind."
I silently cried under my breath, "I-I am so sorry..." They all looked at one another before James walked over to the door and opened it. "Steve?" I moved closer into the corner of the bed, "Bucky please, don't." He sat down on the floor in front of the door. He didn't do anything, which is good in my opinion. "Steve? Please look at me." I looked up at him, tears stung the back of my eyes, "Buck, please, just go away..." I hid my face in my hands before letting the tears fall from my eyes. He didn't move towards me yet he didn't move away.
I sat on the bed crying for a solid five minutes before he walked over to me. He just sat next to me and rubbed my back. I moved over so I was leaning on him while also crying into his shoulder. "Buck...I am so sorry..." He patted my head as the others walked in. They both sat on the floor and rubbed my knees, "It is ok Steve, you didn't do anything else so no one is going after you nor do they know what happened." Tony assured me. I grabbed his wrist and pulled him on the bed as well, he sat next to me and half hugged me. Nat didn't move up on the bed since there was no room but she did move closer.
We sat in silence for what I think was 30 minutes before Tony and James both stood up and helped Natasha up as well. "You guys leaving?" I asked. James gave Nat her crutches, "We all are, we are going to Wakanda so Shuri can help you the same way they did with me." Tony moved the wheelchair closer to me but I pushed it away, "I am healed, but thank you however." He nodded before pushing it away. "Let's get going shall we?" Tony started to walk out and they both followed. I hesitated before getting up and following them down to the quinjet.
