James' POV
When Stark and I reached the hanger I saw two jets on either side of the door. T'Challa, Shuri, Clint and Nat standing outside one while Rhodey and Sam were at the other. T'Challa walked over to the both of us, "You two should go with them," He waved his hands towards Rhodey and Sam, "My sister, Clint, Nat and I will follow behind you." Stark started to fidget, "Why are we taking two planes?" I asked. Natasha walked over to us and stood behind T'Challa, "Just in case they destroy or take one of them, we have another to get home." She smiled before walking back to the jet. Tony gripped my arm, probably out of inpatient or fear I couldn't tell. I nodded my head to T'Challa before taking my leave.
Tony did the same as he followed me to the plane. "This is all terrifying." I stopped walking and looked down to Tony who was still gripping my arm, "What part?" He tightened his grip on my arm, "How much control one person can have over another. That person can make them do anything they want." He looked up to me, "So now I realized how bad you had it before and I am somewhat sorry for lashing out at you. But mostly, I was mad at Steve so I am sorry for nearly killing you if that helps any." I gave him a half hug before continuing the walk to the jet.
Rhodey was already sitting inside while Sam was waiting outside for us, "T'Challa won't leave unless we do, so we better get going or we will lose the tracking on Steve." I patted his back and walked onto the jet. Sam walked to the cockpit to join Rhodey, "Everything good back there?" He yelled. I looked over to Tony, he nodded his head, "We are good. Let's get going, we don't want to lose Steve." The next minute the sound of the engines filled the area, the jet slowly rose up before flying out of the hanger with T'Challa right behind us.
Tony stood up and tapped his arc reactor. The suit formed around the reactor and moved all across his body, encasing him in it, he made slight movements to help the armor surround him. Before the armor reached his head he bowed a bit and closed his eyes tight. When the armor fully surrounded him he looked at me, "What?" He cocked his head to the side. "I raised my eyebrows and shook my head, "Nothing. I just never really seen you dawn your full armor before. I didn't know how it worked." I heard a slight laugh come from him, "You seem more and more impressed with technology everyday Barnes, I find it funny." I pulled a piece of paper from my pocket and threw it at him, he laughed once again, "Hey! That was rude." I scoffed at him, trying my best not to throw another. I crossed my legs and tried my best not to doze off, I realized that Tony was either staring at me or his armor locked up and he slept.
The door connecting the cockpit and the cabin opened revealing Sam standing on the other side, "We are getting closer, where should we land Bucky?" I stood up and taped Tony's helmet, he jumped before looking around, "At the bottom of the mountain like before, we can go through the tunnels to reach them quickly. But we will have to find another way through so I will go first to path out way in, you and the others stay out here, understand?" He just rolled his eyes and told Rhodey where to land.
We landed at the bottom of the mountain, it was snowing but not enough to be a problem, I opened the door and started walking to the entrance of the tunnels when I heard another set of footsteps coming up behind me. I quickly pulled my knife out of my sheath and turned around holding the knife up to the person behind me. "Hey! It is just me." Tony held his hands up, his helmet no longer covering his head and neck. I growled a tad bit before pulling the knife back in my sheath, "I could have cut your throat Stark! I could have killed you!" I turned around, "Go back to the jet, I will mark a way through the tunnels."
He ran up to me and blocked my path, "I am coming with you and there is nothing you can do to stop me." He proudly turned on his heels and started to walk to the entrance of the tunnels. I clenched my fist, huffed and followed him in. He used his repulsor as a sort of flashlight which was useful. "So, where to?" He whispered so his voice didn't echo. "I have an idea of where to go but you will have to either hover or retract your boots, they are absurdly loud." He rolled his eyes and hovered a bitas to not make noise, "Lead the way James," He moved his arm higher so I could go under it, "This time, I shall follow you." I pulled out a little piece of paper which showed all the corridors under the building, I marked the original path to get in but since that is now an office like room I have to find another.
I didn't say anything to Tony, I just started to walk to the closest deadend on the map, well the closest one that didn't lead to the main room. I saw the light above me move as I walked, it was a little distracting but it was helping me find the trapdoors. I stopped walking when we reached the deadend. I saw a trapdoor with a padlock on this side, "Can you get rid of that lock Tony?" He reached for it and slowly pulled the metal apart. We both flinched when the lock snapped, "Well, that was a little loud..." I snarled and took a hold of the ladder, the handle was a little rusted so I had to use my metal arm to unlock it. I pulled it and pushed up, it creaked and screeched as I opened it. I peaked my head up to see if anything or anyone was around, the room was almost empty, the walls were grey with spots of red all around, a bed was placed in the corner with a table beside it.
I closed it and got down, "It looks like an empty cell. You can either stay here and guard this room or go get the others. Whatever you pick, I'll do the other." He hovered away from me, "I'll get the others, you stay here. I trust you." I took a hold of his wrist and handed him the map, "You will need this." He took it out of my hand before hovering back to the others. When he left everything became quiet, the low rumble of Tony's boots were the only thing that made noise down here. The longer you stay down here along the more you can hear in your own body, like your heart beat. The hairs on the back of my neck stood, this place had dark memories, painful memories, awful memories. Everytime I step foot into or even near this building all of these memories keep coming back.
I was lost in my mind before I heard footsteps and voices down the hall. I didn't know exactly who they were so I hid behind a few boxes out of sight from the door. When they neared the door I moved my hand closer to my knife. "James?" It was Tony, I sighed in relief and stood up, "Here." They all looked over to me in surprise, "Where were hiding?" I got out from behind the boxes and moved towards the ladder, "I didn't know who was coming down the corridor, I didn't want to ruin anything or alert them to our presence." I heard footsteps above us and all of us fell silent.
There was a creaking that came from above, it sounded like someone was thrown onto the bed above. I quickly yet quietly ran up the ladder to hear what was going on, "You will stay here until Mr. Bennett comes back. Pull another stunt like that again we will NOT hesitate to ruin your pride and your hope. Do you understand Captain?" the room fell silent above then a loud bang erupted from the room above. Someone pulled a part of my jeans, I looked down to see Natasha looking up at me, "Are they talking about Steve?" She whispered. I climbed down and faced everyone, "Sounded like it, there is really only one Captain that Hydra has. If that is Steve we need to find another way to get in."
Sam pushed past everyone and stood in front of me, "We have a secret knock that we came up with, maybe he still remembers it. If we knock he might respond." He tried to push past me but held his arm, "No. We can't. If that isn't the Captain we will be caught for sure. Also he might tell the commander about the knocking that happened in his room. We can't risk it, we have to find another way but if you really want to do this and get us all caught then go ahead, I'll find another way in." He took a few steps back, "Fine. Let's find another way in." I half smiled. I held my hand out to Tony, he was confused for a second but remembered the map and gave it to me. There was another deadend near us, it will be harder to get there quickly but there is no other way.
Everyone parted away so I could get through, "Follow me, quietly, Rhodey hover, I don't want you loud metal boots making an echo." I started to walk to the deadend praying there was a hatch or door or something, eight people walking through a tight and echoey corridor was a pain and a risk but we all have to help Steve. My prayers were answered since there was another hatch in the ceiling with the padlock on our side. Just as before Tony broke the lock once more but this time it was quieter, thankfully. He moved out of my way so I can open the hatch.
The room looked like a storage place. I turned and looked at everyone, "This room is clear, let's go." One by one we all filled the room. The guards were nowhere near the room, we had time to come up with a plan. "T'Challa, Shuri, Nat and Rhodey, you will check around the cell blocks, I have a map I can give you so split up. Tony, Sam, and Clint you are with me. We will go to the main room to see what is going on. We will destroy everything they have, anything they could use to hurt or torture Steve. We will get him back." I gave Natasha the map to the cell blocks. We all went our separate ways one group towards the cell blocks and the other to the main room.
