Lenna stood in a full black outfit next to Roger's coffin. She watched how a soldier carefully folded the American flag that had been covering the brown coffin. Mary was right next to her, her arm linked through Lenna's. The soldier stepped infront of them and presented it to Mary, who took it and embraced it against her chest. "He thought of you as his own daughter that he never had." Mary whispered. "And he was a father I never had."

The graveyard was now empty, only Lenna stood at the grave. "You shouldn't blame yourself, Sarge." a man said from behind her. "But it was my fault that I got so close to him." Lenna sighed and quickly wiped her tears. "Have you thought about Fury's offer?" the man asked again. "I'll join. On one condition." Lenna said now turning towards the man. "And that is?" Steve asked.

"You won't stop me when I kill that asshole."

After a week of getting back in shape and passing all the test Lenna was officially a SHIELD agent. Fury had allowed her to investigate Private Walters but the information that she found was very limited and made her grow frustrated.

After another information search that she ran and that came back with no results she slammed her fist on the table. When everyone looked her way she smiled and mouthed sorry. When Maria Hill passed her she quickly stood up and walked after her, catching her in an empty corridor. "Hey, do you know where Fury is? I need to speak with him." Lenna said. "No, I don't. But he should" she was cut off by her cellphone ringing. "Speaking of the devil." Maria muttered and raised her phone to her ear.

"This is Hill."

"Give me four hours."

She put her phone in her pocket. "How trustworthy are you?" she asked with a slightly raised brow.

---

"Oh no." Maria muttered after another phone call. "We are changing our destination." "To where?" Lenna asked confused. "To the hospital." Maria sighed taking a sharp U-turn. "What happened?" Lenna asked. "Fury got shot. He's in surgery right now." Maria explained quietly. "Oh, shit." Lenna gasped.

When they got to the right floor she saw Steve and the woman that had driven off with him there. "Captain walking flag. Stranger lady." Lenna greeted trying to relieve her uncomfortableness with humor. But they didn't turn any attention to her. Lenna looked through the window at Fury and the doctors and nurses around him. Suddenly the machines started alerting and the staff with Fury started to revive him. Lenna turned around after the second attempt and closed her eyes while the other three continued watching.

"Agent Higgins?" Maria tried to wake her from her mind. "Mmm, yeah. Yes. What?" she startled awake from her thoughts. "I need you to lay low. Do you have some place to go?" Maria whispered while anxiously looking around. "Mmm, my old apartment?" Lenna whispered back. "Somewhere safer maybe?" Maria continued whispering. "My army partner lives in the neighborhood." Lenna said after a moment of thought. She hadn't seen Sam after the one time when she met Steve. "If you trust him then go. I'll cover for you."

When Lenna was walking towards the exit she noticed the STRIKE team arriving. She was still a stranger to most of them but if Maria's order ment that she was now a fugitive from STRIKE then she had to go unnoticed by them. She found a window in the bathroom through which she escaped.

"That was tight." She mumbled before hastily walking away. Luckily her sense of direction kicked in and she got to Sam's house quite fast. She knocked at the door thrice before Sam opened. "What's up, Sarge?" Sam asked yawning. "Not the time, Wilson. I need a place to hide." Lenna said before she pushed past Sam. "Come in." Sam sighed when Lenna was already past him.

"Do you have any clothes that draw less attention?" Lenna asked when she looked down at her uniform. "Sure thing. I'll see what I can find." Sam said before hurrying to his bedroom. Lenna looked around. Sam's place was quite small and looked like a usual bachelor house. "I think these should fit." Sam said while eyeing Lenna. "Thanks, man." Lenna smiled and went to the bathroom.

She looked herself in the mirror. Her brown hair that had been in a low bun was now almost fully undone and she had dark circles under her hazel eyes from the lack of sleep. She washed her face and let her hair hung down to her waist. "Thanks, Sam." Lenna chuckled when she saw what clothes he had given her. She pulled the jeans on and they instantly fell down. "Wilson!" she yelled for him. "What?" came a muffled answer after a few footsteps that had stopped just behind the bathroom door. "If you want me to wear those jeans then you better have a belt."

Lenna unlocked the door and stuck her hand out. After a moment something was placed on her palm and she pulled it inside. "I want that back!" Sam said behind the door and walked away. Lenna admired the nice dark leather belt which buckle was golden and had the word 'Army' carved into it. Lenna quickly put it on and then fastened it enough so the pants wouldn't fall down again.

She unfolded the black tank top and put it on, tucking the edge into her jeans. When she stepped out Sam grinned in the doorway. "Want some late night dinner?"

"Not really in the mood right now." Lenna shook her head. "You can go back to bed. I'm fine on the couch." She smiled and sat down. "No can do, Sarge. A lady should sleep in the bed." Sam smirked. "What lady am I? Also it's your house. I'm seriously fine on the couch." Lenna tried to make her point. "Well if you don't want me to give up my bed, join me. There's plenty of room and it's not the first time we sleep so closely." Sam yawned, his eyes slowly closing more and more. "Fine. But keep your arms away from me."
